Hi, I rode my new 2007 model GS on a 100 mile trip last week and the found the seat really uncomfortable. I'm amazes how people can go round the world on it! I have heard that there are aftermarket seats such as Corbin or Sargent but does anybody have an opinion on which is better or other alternatives. Many thanks.

You could always get it re-built and re-shaped. Do a search for motorcycle seatworks.

I have a Sargent seat on mine, and it's much better than the original. On my 1150 I had a Wunderlich low, a Sargent, a Corbin and a Melvyned one, not at the same time!

The Corbin was the most comfortable, but too wide for me to get my feet down easily, the Melvyned one, with gel pads, was not much better than the stock BMW one, the Wunderlich was really uncomfortable, worse than stock. Best choice for me was the Sargent.

Lots of opinions on which seats are best, problem is what woks for one may not work for another and it's only when you try a set you find out.

Sargent are popular, I use them currently and find them very comfortable even on 500 mile plus days.

Previously tried a set remodelled by Melvyn HUnter who has been mentioned previously and I found them just as good only sold them when I thought I was changing the bike for an 800.

There are currently a set of Melvyn's seats on Ebay due to finish this evening which I'd recommend looking at.:aidan

Stick with it

Imho you should stick with it mate, i found mine started to reform or maybe my arse did!..like everything on the bike its up to the job. :D

I've only tried the Air Hawk, which was a vast improvement on the standard and then the Sargent, which is much better.

Hopefully someone near your area will pop along any minute and offer to meet with you so you can try their SargbinMelvhawk seat.

I've just switched to a Sargent but it's too early to tell whether its any better.

Digger Seats aren't too far away from you - just down the road in Newport. May be worth having a chat with them. I've heard nothing but praise for his work.
