Hi.
I have a 1150 GS which we use mostly for touring. Problem is that after a couple of hours, yr arse goes a bit numb and you start moving around on the seat trying to get comfy. Now I know there is a big market of replacement seats, but, which is the best - Cobin / Tourtech / Sargent ??????

Also, is having your original seat re-padded an viable option. Do they do front and back?
If so, is there somebody in the UK you guys would recommend. This would be my preference if possible.

Mountain biking season at the minute, so no immediate hurry.

Some chaps have had their seats redone here in the UK using a gel pad insert for comfort.

I went the Sargent route. Opened the box and it fitted straight on to the bike with no adjustments needed. They now make aheated seat option ......

Earlier this year, after some 3 years use and 48,000 miles, I noticed that the seat base had cracked.

I emailed Sargent to explain the issue and added a photo.

Within an hour I'd got areply telling me thay have a lifetime warranty and had authorised the principal UK importer (Calamander) to contavt me to find out which material I wanted the seat covered in, and what colour they should make the piping on the seam.

New seat arrived within 7 days.

Now that's what I call service.

Interestingly, I've helped two mates fit Corbin leather seats to their bikes and both needed to be adjusted and fettled to fit. They look nice, but I'm not sure that a leather seat in our climate is a good idea.

Plus one for Sargent. If you want to change bikes simply refit your old seat before you sell the bike and transfer the Sargent seat onto your new GS or sell it on here - it won't last long until it is snapped up!

Seconded for a sergent seat, it was bought with the bike, and provides all day comfort for me, I liked it so much, I bought a rear one for the wife,I'me such a good husband :D

I live in Lancashire and am fortunate to have 2 GSes,:D:aidan:D a standard 1150 with a Melvin Hunter gel seat and a 1200GSA with a sargent.

You are welcome to come over for a look and a 'sit' if you want, although to send me a PM you'll have to become a site sponsor (money VERY well spent).

Mike
