Replacing handle bar rubber grips

Hi,

I keep meaning to replace the rubber grips on the bars as they are now fairly worn. I don't want to replace the heated elements as that's fine and I'm happy to peel the other one's off and use hairspray to replace.

My question is can anyone recommend where to get the cheap rubber covers. If you can send me a link or confirm what size they need to be, that would be grand.

MikeO did a great thread on changing them years ago and I seem to remember that you had to get two right hand ones.

I fitted grip puppies over my worn grips. Nice and soft + they increase the size of the grip slightly.

I followed the ADV Rider guide to replace mine and it worked a treat. Just take your time and be careful if you need to cut any of the old grip off and you won't damage the heating element.

Same here, did mine last year, grips came from Sherlocks and I followed the ADV Rider guide. Just take your time and don't slip with the stanley knife cutting the old grips off, damaging the heating elements or yourself!

Don't stick the new ones on if you have to change them in the future they'll be a paint to get off. They don't move anyway.

+1 on the grip puppies. a really cost effective way of rejuvenating worn grips without the pain or expense of a complete replacement. takes two minutes to put on - with a bit of soapy water. an hour to dry off and voila.

Wouldn't touch grip puppies. Fitted them liked the feel however they wouldn't stop spinning. Used washing up liquid to fit and washed off but they kept spinning. In the end I ripped them off last ride out and binned them. Now my tbs have been refurbished I can balance the tbs better so no bar vibration.
Shame as I liked the thicker grip and the heated bit worked fine. Maybe using hairspray might work better.

The idea of them spinning on my bars is.. to be kind - laughable. I was warned by a mate to be sure they were correctly positioned because - once they dry out they're impossible to adjust and the only way to get them off is with a stanley knife.

I wish mine had been the same. I had to super glue each end but the middle section still rotated until in the end the glue gave way. Maybe I was just unlucky.

Well grip puppies aside, your going to have to take a knife to them either way.
