I need to replace my rear caliper after I managed to strip the threads in it. Ive learned my lesson now and have bought a torque wrench.
Anyway, are the following steps sufficient to get everything back working again?
2002 R1150GS Non ABS
1. Clamp brake line to prevent loss of fluid.
2. Remove old rear caliper.
3. Bolt on replacement caliper.
4. Attach brake lines then remove clamp.
5. Apply pressure to brake pedal and loosen bleed nipple about 1/2 turn until small amount of brake fluid seeps out.
6. Keep pressure on brake pedal and tighten bleed nipple.
7. Pump brake pedal repeatedly until resistance is met.
8. Keep pumping brake pedal for next few minutes to ensure pressure is retained.
Not sure if I should clamp the rubber hose as that might damage it? Perhaps bunging a cork in it or simply inverting it might be just as effective?
Would that do the job or would I be dead at the first T junction?
Cheers,
Mike
