Hi folks,

Have finally got back to a Beemer and am going to fit handlebar risers like my old GS

Only thing is I remember the front brake line was under a bit of tension once they were installed (something a the a Vines pointed out too) and ideally should be rerouted to run behind the yoke instead of in front of it. It didn't really cause and problems in the 20,000 miles I put on it, but if it's a simple job I'll do it.

Question is, without ever having touched brake lines before, is it a simple job - if I disconnect the hose from the reservoir on the handlebars does the fluid all squirt out or do brake lines have some sort of valve so that I could just disconnect, reroute and reconnect?

If it's more involved I'll wait till its next service and have it done by a professional (*cough* steptoe *cough*) :thumb

it will dribble out and youll need to bleed the brakes after (ive just done the same)

How does one bleed brakes... or should I just stop right now?
:augie

You have no reason to undo any brake lines.

Undo top nut of right hand fork stanchion. Push stanchion down and reroute brake hose behind it.
Relocate fork stanchion and replace top nut.

All of 5 minutes.
