Hello
My 2004 GS DENSO alternator kaput few weeks ago it's totally seized and have a small crack on casing.
Called MOTORWORKS they suggested retro fitting later model one with higher amperage, better for the load with extra lights etc.
So bought one of those and currently swapping the pulley over
The original - standard bolt fixed 67mm pulley
Later one- clutch pulley much smaller in diameter
Regulator and Positive terminal is the same and so is the mount by three bolts
The other electric plug is smaller
Original - larger multi plug two wires blue and green
Later one- MOTORWORKS supplied with one cable yellow
MOTORWORKS suggesting and I'm sure they are right, the yellow wire goes to blue and that should suffice.
But what happens to the green wire which is left unconnected ?

Any one with any knowledge shine some light to this please

You may need to change the alternator belt -

Your old original belt would be a 592 mm
The later smaller pulley may need the shorter belt, a 582.

If you've got the numbers off the stickers on the alternators, post them up and should be able to look them up on our system.

Here are the pictures old and new

Do the 2 wires on your original go to the pins marked IG and L? I would gues they probably do as IG stands for ignition feed an L is the battery warning light. The numbers on your new bosch one don't cross refer on the system I can access at home I'll try and remember to look when I'm at work tomorrow.

Not sure about the old as I don't have it with me its I my mates workshop but have replacement alternator with me though but your description make sense

Does the alternator not have an in-built reg/rectifier as they do on cars?

Thanks to http://www.euromotoelectrics.com this issue is now resolved, yes it does have a built in rectifier the bit I was referring to turns out to be some sort of noise suppressor one end grounded and the other with positive, job done

I think Tapatalk has a button on the touch menu "copy URL" or some such. Ive deleted mine because its too intrusive.
