I know this is a stupid question, but I'm asking anyway. Any dealers out there know if there is going to be a retro fit ESA/ASC for the pre 08 1200GS models. Or has the fatherland decreed that that would put a dampner (no pun) on sales of the new 08 range ?

Cheers for that Zoltan, will look into it. Do you mean its cheaper to buy this product through bmw.........not too sure what you meant by same item 5oo quid at bmw.

Back to the ASC, does anyone have any experience in retro fit only this system? From what I see its a matter of new softwareupdate and a change in left hand switch.:rose
If possitive, from what year (model) is it possible?

Surely some kind of sensor is required for the front wheel?

Factory fit when you order a new bike.

Ok, understand now......doh ! Just didn't want to go down that route, at least for now, can't stand the red colour and I never liked the silver/grey one.

I had a chat with the WP agent about ESA and standard shocks. Cost for ESA including VAT 1400:eek:, fitting extra .Normal shocks £1100 including fitting .

Yours for about £1000 ( nice chap at the stand told me and they can be serviced) , so is cheaper from BMW ( SAME ITEM ) FOR £500.

Do be careful to compare like with like.
The retrofit system offered by WP for the R1200GS and R1150RT is similar to that for the R1200RT etc - that is electric adjustment of damping front and rear plus electric adjustment of pre-load at rear only. The 2008 ESA system for the GSA's is certainly different, offering electric adjustment of damping and Pre-Load front and rear . I think that the adjustment range for ride height is greater also.
If you swap between solo and two-up frequently it might be worth it. My 1200RT has ESA, and I value being able to adjust the damping during the ride.Others think I'm crazy and should have bought Ohlins for the same money.
