The rev counter on my 1150 gs sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.
I've tried the Haynes manual but can't find any reference to it, so can anyone tell me where it gets its feed from? I assume it's an electrical feed from a sensor on the engine as there is no sign of a drive cable like the speedo uses.
Thanks.

The connector for it is located on the right hand side of the headstock. You can see it if you look down through the gap between the tank and the headstock. Black 3 pin connector.

The contacts might be corroded, worth looking. The Tacho or the wiring harness to it might be faulty.

The impulse drive for the tacho comes from the motronic (ECU) black/grey which is the pulse for the coil. Pin 2 of connector.

The green/black pin 1 is the +ve 12 volts and the brown pin 3 is earth.

Thanks Ian, I'll have a look tomorrow.
I fitted a steering hard part a couple of days ago, lots of lock to lock on the handlebars so it could be that I have disturbed the connector.
Cheers
