Whats he like then? How expensive compared to main dealers for servicing?

Just had my 05 1200gs serviced by Roy, nice chap and good and mech. 1800 ml service, new back pads plus MOT £189 !! :clap, stood and watched him work, very relaxed chatting about the bike. Watched has he hooked it up to the comp for the diagnostics, when he replaced the oil he said he wouldn’t charged me for another another bottle of oil because he already had one opened, it’s the little things like that that make you feel your not getting ripped off and make you come back. Felt like a new bike riding off, why the hell did i wait this long before having the throttle ballanced :blast
A lot better than watching it disappear behind a closed door and being told to come back with your Visa card so we can melt it down.

Took my GS to Roy yesterday for an MOT & 18k service. £142
This was my 2nd visit to Roy & he has a pleasant atmos in his workshop.

Towards the end of the service he balanced the throttle bodies & as he looked at the laptop he uttered 'I've never seen that before!'

The vacuum measurements were within 1 Mbar of each other.

Not bad seeing as Roy balanced them 12 months ago & I'd ridden to Rome & back since.

Had my new 1200gsa in at AJs in shipley for its 600 mile service several weeks ago and it had very lumpy tickover and was surging on low throttle openings. At 3000 miles I took it to Roy who balanced the throttles and corrected the tickover on the laptop, seems to me this was never done at the 600 service. He did not charge for this, just said now you know where I am bring it here for servicing.Damn right I will!!

Nice one pathfinder, all i got from AJ,s was crap service. There are manybetter independant servcie repair agents out there.I have heard quite few good reports of RGM.Thats why KTM,s do it for me now.

It may very well be me...
New Zumo and all

N53 39 57.25 W2 46 48.51
(Using WGS84 Datum and h ddd mm' ss.s option - Cant find a h ddd mm ss.ss option as it appears to me...)
But when I key this in - i am sent to Simister island on the Zumo screen... any advice as i want to get this right before I try it in the Alsp :)

Roy is a true gent. I had a problem with my R100GS some time ago and was stuck for transport. He drove over to my home, diagnosed the problem after I had spent hours p@ssing about and wouldn't accept anything for his trouble. I can't recommend him highly enough.

Tried doing it in Mapsource?

To be honest I can't be ar5ed with entering lat / longs into a GPS, so do all of that in Mapsource, when the stress levels for failure will be less.

hmmm
works there lol

Just wanted to get it right in case I am "on the road" and wanted to go somewhere
otherwise I will have to buy a netbook now :)

What a nice chap, just had a few bits done by him, very reasonable prices and knows what he's doing.

Recommended. :clap

Does anyone know - and he is on his hols so cant ask...
If Roy's work is BMW authorised? I have used him and am very happy - but need an authorised place....
i.e. can I get a stamp?

Seems that the original dealer buggered up my warranty with BMW - when I rang BMW last week to check all was OK for euro-trip, BMW lady said I wasn't registered...
Upshot is - if I get the bike serviced and stamped up - they will give me 1 free year... seeing as it's now 13 months since I got it... very happy

I know Roy used to work for Southport Superbikes & is BMW qualified but now he's an 'independant' I can't say for sure he's BMW authorised. He runs an insurance approved repair service.

He has stamps! :thumb2
