Im having a new RID unit on my bike.....luckily its under warranty so Im not paying but wondered how much it would have been if I was!...... Any ideas please? I reckon its expensive!

im after one for my 850 it was an optional extra all the censor are wired in and ready, so id like to know to
I found out and there approx £210 new.

my 02 R1150GS does not have the RID
I presumed it was an option the new purchaser chose not to take out.
but it sounds like I can retrofit one ?
and in which case are they model specific?
was that a BMW dealer parts dept price ?
presumably there are some second hand units out there ?

They look exactly the same unit for both the 1150 & 1100... Yes it was a dealer price but luckily the bike was under waranty so fixed with no problems.
That got to be worth £45 as the new price is frightening

If someone can tell me the connections are sitting there waiting for it I'll take it for £45 plus the postage and packing.

I "retro fitted" one to my 850 (2000) and all the sensors are already there.
Check to see if there is an 8 pin i think connector at the front of the tank ready and waiting.
Had to buy a new plastic surround which was about 18 quid to make the job look good, as my plastic cutting skills left a little to be desired on the original

Doesn't make it go any faster though!!!
