Someone recommended Whitshiels cafe just outside Langholm for their pies. Could be a good excuse for a bimble over there for a pie. See the “pie, mash and liquor” thread in the pub.

One circular route could be Moffat - Crosslee - Eskdalemuir - Langholm - Lockerbie - Moffat. Small roads, great scenery and a decent pie with beer waiting at the end.

Goat tracks or roads 🤔

Goat tracks are best
The roads around there are superb - however the road through Eskdalemuir has (had) done big potholes and craters - so you ride with one eye ahead and one looking down in front of your front wheel

They weren’t too bad a year ago, are you talking a while back?

I often stop for lunch there (not had the pies though) it's part of my regular route to Edinburgh, via Innerleithen and Herriot. Call in at Samye Ling Tibetan temple for a brew, loads of hippy chicks hanging out. I stopped off one winter riding up and had an invite to stop over with two young ladies (I was younger, slimmer and fitter back then)....I didn't due to a pressing engagement, but knowing my luck they would have been ladyboys or serial killers :D

How pressing can an engagement be??

I was due to help crew on a yacht for my mate, he was having a sailing exam for being a skipper on those sailing flotilla holidays. Had to be in Edinburgh to get my lift over to Dunstaffnage marina near Oban. I think I'm far too loyal to my mates:cry::D

Is that the one where you got bollocked by a passing nuclear submarine. I kid you not folks.
BTW, talking of loyalty to your mates, it's your turn to buy the fish and chips at Knott End-sur-Mer tomorrow.:D

oh how we laughed as the Modplods pointed machine guns at us (I nearly shat myself, actually MP5s IIRC) but that was on a different voyage.
I shall try to remember to bring my wallet, will you be having your usual lobster thermidor with pan seared scallops with a pomegranate glaze, and a bottle of grand cru Chablis?

You've clearly been flagged up by the MOD as a suspected Spetsnaz operatives on amphibious pie raids.

You might have given more notice if you’re paying
