Ride Reviews….

I thought the R12 G/S was air and oil cooled, but seems just air cooled? Back to the future bike.

The other question is why the / what does that actually mean?

4 GUYS AND A GIRL 🚬 Only one bike had a side bag?

Saw it at the Bike Shed show, looks bloody lovely. Only thing i'm not keen on are the bars (look like very mini Apes)... Will be testing one out in a few weeks, the bike the Urban should have been...IMG_8550.jpegIMG_8556.jpegIMG_8561.jpeg

Had a poke and prod yesterday .. the ORS team have one at their centre, not for punters at this stage .. instructors were out and about at Walter's Arena.

Pro's
- it looked superb in the flesh, a simple and clean looking bike which looks very purposeful and well balanced
- standover/seat felt very much 'big enduro bike' with the benefits of a low COG
- sounded fantastic and it's good to see the 1200 motor in place with good HP and plenty of grunt
- Suspension is decent with rebound and compression adjustment similar to the F900 .. front had marzocci forks
- instrumentation was simple and old school
- 18 inch rear wheel (21 front) .. lots of tyre options

Cons
- Price .. but then, likely many of these will only be ridden to the pub or on sunny Sundays (nothing wrong with that) but I think this would be a great shame given the capability as it is a true G/S
- Bar risers are plain ridiculous and it felt like it would be the first thing I would swap out
- Handlebars flexed way too much .. again, would swap these out
- I wasn't allowed to have go on it! (but did have 2 fantastic days being beasted by the legend which is Gwyn Barraclough)

.. the instructors were literally fighting to have a go and their feedback was that it is excellent/excellent fun in the dirt .. they were certainly having a lot of giggles and were very enthusiastic about the bike.

There is some clear comparisons with the HP2 .. but the HP2 is considerably lighter at 175Kg (ish) whilst the R12 G/S is 216Kg with same basic engine and similar output but the HP2 was definitely more extreme

.. I'll be looking forward to a demo ride at some point.

Saw one in Vines. Looks very cool but out of my price range for a second bike dedicated to a job. And too tall. Could not even get a foot down to lift it up properly

Dealer said something a linkage to lower the bike. Can't see how. I hope they do a ST.

Review by Charley Boorman here. I actually saw him in a pub on that bike south of Guildford.
