Riding lights.

I have to replace one of the riding lights on my 1150A - I can't find one the same so need a pair...wiring is all done, it is only the 'glass end bit' brackets and everything are fine..... what do people recommend now? Not £500 a pair jobbies...more like the £50 a pair ones, but some are sh1te and some are OK, so after the collective experience here of a pair that will do the job and be pretty decent please....

I shall take a butchers, thank you - I don't have HIDs, just normal high power bulbs in the main headlight and these LEd type side lights. One gotr broken in my crash - starting to put her back together. So I shall go and have a decko.

Other suggestions please. I did say I don't have that kind of money.

LED floods will dazzle the street unless they are well dimmed. I had some with four LED emitters they had to be angled down at a drunken angle to avoid dazzling everyone. One failed after a few weeks (water ingress) but no loss tbh.
The U5/U7 long range spots are great and very low cost but again must be dimmed for use as daylights. The rims conveniently take 70mm angel rings with clip on covers. I sealed the backs with auto body acrylic sealant.
The rings look good and stand out in traffic without causing dazzle.
U5/U7 have a useless and annoying three function feature. YouTube shows how to disable it.
I wired the angel rings with ignition on and spots via a relay with main beam only. Relay needed to keep canbus happy.

Be interested in how you add them to the Xco Ash. I have an LED bulb which is good enough for the speed I ride at - but a bit of extra is always useful.

I put a post about it on the dedicated pages...but I don't think they're available now. Mikey bought one and said he would trust me on it...he hasn't marched round to have it out with me, but it is OK. You don't gain much on high beam over dip, but the bright, white light is certainly better than the standard conventional bulb - straight fitment. They might still be available.

Better than the one I have, with the LED chips spread over both sides.Mine has all three on one side, which is why it doesn't use the full reflector. This one has two one side and one the other, so would use the entire reflector.

Lights have arrived. You tube for the U5 Cree disable modification done... I cannot unscrew the alloy front ring to get at the lens. I have tried heating it up first with a hot air gun (not too aggressively) but I can't shift it. I think I need a tame Gorilla to twist it off for me. I shall have to leave it until the weekend now, off to the Lake District in the morning at sparrowfart, staying in the YHA at Wastewater tomorrow night. I'll check back in case someone has a further tip on how to get the thread to unwind.

I got the same pair that notagser points us at in his post further up the page.

Fitted them on the matt silver alloy brackets that are on each side of the Rockster twin-headlights, running them off the fused plug(s) under the front of the fuel tank that feed the heated grips, which are duff on my bike anyway.

But instead of warming the inside of my palms with HGs,I use the much better KEIS-brand heated inner gloves. They keep the backs of your fingers warm, which freeze in cold weather even if you have working HGs.

Lamps fitted thus, with no need for a relay coz they only sip juice :-

My bike is an EU model which puts the headlamps on as soon as you turn the IGN key. And to avoid any possible dazzle to other road users, I have them dipped down at a slight angle.
