Riding The WC Courtesy Bike

Has the LC suddenly lost weight? Reading the specs the 1200 TC 229 kg fully oiled & fuelled 1200 WC 238 Kg in same state finally 1200 adv 256 kg in same state.

So how is the WC lighter? In handling maybe but not physically, and everyone saying it is that much quicker, some of that is an illusion as the bike is 9 kg heavier with 125 bhp against 109 bhp so some of that extra bhp is negated by the extra weight. The 0-62 figures are as follows 3.7 sec 0-62 1200 TC 3.6 secs 0-62 1200 WC. So come on these are official figures so why is it so much quicker? Or is it just an impression of being quicker as it revs up so much quicker..

PS nice review JayC reflected my views in some ways but will still look at the new adventure when it arrives. As IMHO the GS and GSA are completely different beasts and those of us riding A's are probably looking for something a bit different and not an upright sports bike.

Not sure why people are throwing their toys out of the pram because the OP didn't like the new bike :nenau

Every bike has its niggles that some will find a major negative whilst others will be quite happy to live with

In my case I loved riding the Multistrada but pointless keyless ignition technology and a massively annoying stand that your foot rests on constantly really bugged me and put me off. Some would quite happily not be bothered by this but I was so didn't take it any further even though its a great bike for road riding IMHO

It would be a very boring world if we all liked the same things!

The 40-120 top gear acceleration times in Bike magazine are light years apart - the WC does it in just over 13 seconds which makes it a very quick bike by any standards.

Jeez Jonny, wake up and smell the coffee. You sound so bl**dy boring!
:D

Do I ?

Sell a 2011 twincam GS which is barely run in @ 6k

Cost to change was at least £3-4k to a WC GS

Ride it out of the showroom & instantly lose £2k+ in Vat

Keep taking it back for rear pads/clutch/clonking gearbox etc in the first 3 months of ownership

Is that progress ......just so you can impress everyone by having the latest bike on the block & swank & swoon at how lucky you are

Or keep your existing underused bike & spend the £3-4k on a couple of memorable trips on it

You do the Maths :)

If you think that's boring then you're more shallow

If someone wants to buy a new bike and can afford it, I don't see how they're 'swanking' and 'swooning', at least no more so than having two bikes of the same model and even year ;)

But you don't mention the 1200 tc's time :nenau and in the real world the only bit you can use is 40 - 80 unless you don't like you license :blast

Me neither, their chocie

BTW my 2 bikes are really in fact... 1 bike, because there's no better road bike I like to ride than the 1150GSA

Bit like you with quite similar 1200's, just different forks:P

What a piece of rubbish the new wasserhead is !!

Selling now as this is not good enough :blast

How the fruit will it start now .... Warning to all check the starter motor .............................NOW OR ELSE

French Shite I see before me,

I can see the early sign of alcohol abuse, poor paint, potential rusting, and a little weeping, and IMHO its nowhere as good as any other French shite in cans.

Didn't yer not get a manual with that mate? It would have told yer London Pride is the only beer worth drinkin on the move,

LOL NLL aka more money than sense, (well according to OP).

Keeps me happy reading all the bollocks on here ..........bitter me nooooooooooooooooo

Why would I be given a manual for a courtesy bike? RTFOP title!

Another one with more money than sense .... bloody right I'm going to look for corrosion at £10K a hit. :blast

Yup that's me, worked hard, saved hard for my pension, retired by 55, n five bikes in the garage and travelling the world. More money but more sense......

Crap dealer you have JayC they should have told you, you can't just jump on these modern bikes you need to do a few per flight checks, and a little instruction....

My Toilet has been through the wars, and ridden in all weathers not a sign of corrosion,

No problem with side stand, Etc etc etc, :blagblah:blagblah:blagblah

Tho I do find getting my arse off the saddle a bit of a problem.

Oh I forgot it was a 15k hit.....

It's about 21 seconds - very similar to a VFR800 or Triumph Tiger 1050.

The WC is much closer to a large sports bike in terms of top gear acceleration.

You won't find corrosion if you don't look for it but trust me, it's there! :thumb

So, you can spend mucho wonga on a bike but can't accept an opinion of another persons experience or understand the words in the OP relating to a 'courtesy bike' and so suggest to 'RTFM', knowing a manual won't come supplied for loan purposes.

Like I said, more money than sense. :augie

I'm sure in real life you probably listen and accept the opinions of others, even if you don't agree, so here is some good advice, and free!

Lay off the drink, it makes you look a bigger fuckwit than you probably are. :thumb
