Hope I get that mileage out of mine :D

I've also heard that main dealers are cheapest for the bearing (although I managed to pick up a spare bearing and seal on ebay).

Hope the 'change' goes well :thumb2

Russian made bearing and seal - £11 and £2 respectively.
Maybe hard to get here but OK when yours fails in the Ukraine as mine did last week.
If anything seems to be made better - only time will tell though.

Why brave to buy Ukranian bearings, some so called famous named bearings are chinese bearings that are supplied without manufacturers marks and are then etched with the appropriate name repackaged and sold on.

In a spirit of preparing for the inevitable, do i understand correctly that the final drive bearing is what Motorworks would call a
Bevel box large output bearing (R850/R1100/1150/Cruiser) | TRA42210 £37.01 INC VAT £31.50 EX

How did you get it off ? I had to take mine to a engineer with a 50ton press... I ended up bending my wrench when trying to turn my manual bearing puller!

Nice one :thumb2

As you replaced both bearings, I assume you had to re-shim it? - that's the bit that would worry me!

I'm currently replacing both of mine... shimming should be done next week as all of the parts have just arrived. Mine was shimmed incorrectly from factory as all of the wear on the crown gear is on the outer 1/3 of the teeth... hence the bearing lasting 32k. I may have gotten a bit more out of it but as I was getting a lot of flakes in theFD oil in only 2k miles I figured it was time to change. Maybe I'll create a how-to... starting at putting everything back together.

It seems straight forward so I'm hoping it goes okay. Once I start riding it though I may need to change the title to a 'How not to...' :D I'll start putting it together tomorrow and then order my shims.
