Had Battlewings on my 1150 ADV for the past two years after always using Tourances....I can't fault them:thumb2. Loads of grip on both tarmac and gravel.

The B/wings get my vote.....IMHO:thumb2

Old thread but anyway...

Anyone using Pilot road 4's on an 1150 gs?
Coming up for a tyre change myself and wondered the same.

The Pilot 4's have had some very good write ups. In one Belgium mag a friend habe me they said they were the best ever. Quite a claim so has made me so and look for a mo. But right now still heading for a set of Anakee 2s... i know, big contrast but I was super happy with the last set

My wife's got pilot 3's on her fazer - incredibly sticky in the wet. I think I'm going to replace my nearly worn out trail attacks with pilot 4's.

In my humble opinion PR4 trails are the finest tyre that you can put on a GS as long as you will be staying on the road !

The feedback and turn in feel is brilliant and grip is beyond mortal limits in the dry and in the wet they are just unbeatable

Interesting - I was thinking of getting roads as I tend to stay on the road.....

I think I will put a set on in the new year. I find the tourances rubbish compared to the PR3's I have on another bike.

I've never tried anything on my 1150gsa other than Tourances but that's prolly because I really like them. I also really like the Battlewings ( Deathwings ?) on my 1200gsa - 65,000 miles on them. Watched the Michelin promo video for the PR4's of a bike being ridden bolt upright at pottering speeds on lovely smooth dry roads in summer and a still of someone on a wet racetrack enjoying staggeringly vertical inclination and if that's any indication of how confident the company is in their product I don't feel in the least bit tempted...

I'd have more trust in the tyres the kid with the push bike had fitted - at least he was trying :D

Fair enough. Having had a set of PR3's on an r850 r for about 4000 miles, I think they are amazing and if the Pr 4's are as good if not even better, it's a no brainer for me. I don't go off road and I really don't plan to and country roads that get a bit overgrown are perfectly manageable on road tyres in my opinion.

I've had about 4 sets of tourances and I don't really have an issue with them but based on the wear on my PR3's and the way the hold the road, I think I'll give them a shot. Each to their own!

I watched the video. Got a completely different message than you... But then I had read this beforehand:

I think I'm tempted to go for a set of these late Jan when I renew. I love the look of the Anakees and other 'dual sport' tyres but I'm kidding myself if even 10% of my riding is of road, I'll just have to manage at those moments I am!

Fitted PR4 Trails to my 1150gs a couple of weeks ago. I have always had tourances for the past 12 years, but really fancied giving the latest tyre technology a try. The PR4's are much more confidence inspiring, with far better feedback. If you never venture of road (and lets face it the tourances are not really off road tyres anyway) then I would recommend them.

Thanks for that. Exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for i.e. The view of someone that has made the switch. And you're right, the Tourance and Anakees are not really off road tyres anyway...
