Rocker/Valve Covers

Hi, I need to do some remedial work on one of these covers. Can any one tell me what they are made of eg aluminium and any advice on what paint/base paints I should use.
My intention is not to spray the whole thing only the lip near to the rubber gasket.

Paint no idea but they are made from Magnesium.
