Anyone know if you can replace the plastic chin piece lock down straps on the roof boxer helmets.Cheers.

funny you say that...

mine broke too:mad:
stupid design, innit?!
i've had a long look at mine and figured the best i could do was to drill (Very Carefully with a dremel) out the rivets that hold the now useless top half of the broken piece and replace with ...
cable ties (?) joining them to the bottom piece, et voila;
a kind of solution.
maybe.
otherwise; bin the chin bar and have a very pricey open face with a still useless visor:(
i only use mine when doing Rider Training -so its hardly "setting a good example" to go this route. *shrugs*. i went back to my "everyday" openface / but the wind noise and abuse to the Mic. is chronic.
Og.
REALLY peeved at spending thi$$$$ much money and ending up with thi$ much helmet.

Thank you very much gentlemen.Ihave contacted the Irish distributer,Megabikes in Dublin where the nice man informed me that the straps are not available.Instead a new chin-piece must be purchased at a cost of 88 Euro's.Time for some serious improvision.

MegaB*LLOX!!!!

pardon me - just HAD to correct this!

i got mine from Crossans in Newry.(visorshop.com) just for the hell of it (not expecting a happy reply) i mailed them yesterday. here is the prompt and helpful reply i got this morning;

"it is possible for the roof importer in england to fit new plastic tabs on the chin piece. just post up the chin piece & we'll get it sorted for you

Thunderchild as posted above.

If really stuck speak to Mark (the MD). Decent guy but don't waste his time please ;)

If they give you a decent service then please tell others....

I'm sure nobody would phone the guy to waste his time.

Surely he will (and should) ensure that the products he imports, sells and makes a tidy profit from are fit for purpose and are serviceable. If he is a good businessman he should be happy to talk to his valuable customers.

I've got a Roof Diversion and it's a great helmet (not as well built as the Arai it replaced though).

my clip broke :(
the place where i bought it from said fec off its out of waranty
unless you cross my palm with 40 quid :mad:
sooooooooooo
after i pondered awhile:rolleyes: :idea :idea
i got a test sample of arimid(kevlar):rolleyes:
and a pressstud riviter
and made my own feking chinpice clips
only 5 months testing to go to see if they last longer
than the original:D :D :D :D :D

I agree you should be looked after and I think you’ll find if you search back on this site that he has looked after his end customers quite well. Almost everyone who’s had dealing with Thunderchild have been pleased with the service, but as Mark will point out, the dealer that sold the helmet should be the first point of contact and should resolve the problem, even if it means putting the customer in contact with the importer.

It’s the same as having a problem with that new VW, Kawasaki, hedge trimmer, wheelbarrow. You take it back to the point of purchase. If you do not get any service from the supplier then complain to the manufacturer/importer.

Hello lads,
I've been talking to the lovely lady at Thunderchild.They can repair the helmet.It's going to cost 30 quid,including postage to Ireland.Thats a good result.Thanks for the assistance.
