Route Napoleon

Phew - your plans make me dizzy.

I'm heading off this weekend to Avignon via Troyes (Piney - thanks Wapping) on Sunday from the Zeebrugge ferry but I'm going to beast it down and once I've done a decent number of miles cut into the N-roads.

You guys sound like seasoned tourers - I'm going to do the big miles first time round and then enjoy it when I come back in later years. I've got to meet Mrs S off the plane in Avignon so must make sure I'm there on time and smiling not sweating. Thereafter comes harmony.

A good long week touring the Moto Map routes before heading back north on the 18th from Avignon airport with a chance to look around at some leisure (for two days) before catching the P&O ferry from Zeebrugge to Hull on the Saturday night.

I must thank you guys - this forum has been immense in the range and scope of the advice given - so many thanks.

If you have any good routes through the Luberon then I've still got time to set it up in Mapsource for the Garmin - although my plan is to follow any good roads and then once I get lost ask the Zumo to find me the way home!

Enjoy your trips!

From Avignon I would be inclined to do the Ardeche gorge then pass through Arles into the Cevennes then through the Gorge du Tarn to the Millau bridge. Lots of great rides around Millau then drop down the A75 and then onto the A9 back to Avignon.

Thanks for that - I'm looking to go the other direction and get to the Alps. I'll keep a note of the route, though, for next time.

Well, well, well found it was easy to do the Gorges de l'Ardeche if I ignored the Zumo and just followed the map...

Great route, what fun. Got to Orange and then to Avignon and can only recommend the tourist board routes on the Motomap - excellent so far on the way to Bras d'Asse and the Gorges de Verdon.

Superb trip so far - to St Remy de Provence - and covered many miles of the south. Report back once home and with a better connection.
