Hi all

I've got to do a multi drop delivery nationwide (by van unfortunately) I was going to try and use my 2610 off the bike, if i enter all the postcodes/addreses as waypoints (31 off) with a start and finish point (the same or similar place), would the unit choose the best/shortest route to cover all the waypoints or just a route following the waypoints in the order I entered them?

As my brains not working too well today, have you any other ways to plan the most efficient route?

The unit will route between the points in order. The best way to do this is enter the points, calculate the route, and manually reorder the points, recalculating each time, looking at which route looks best.

(Actually, I seem to remember there being some option for re-ordering the waypoints, but I may be talking b*llocks here. We can't rule out senility, or an overactive imagination, I'm afraid.)

This is the sort of thing that it's much easier to do in MaspSource, and then transfer the route to the 2610 when you're happy with it.

Incidentally, if anyone knows a method for calculating the optimal route between several locations like this, then you're in line for a Nobel Prize for mathematics :D

I can't see anything in MapSource 6.8 that automatically reorders waypoints, but if you right-click the route, select Show Selected Route on Map, then right-click it again and select Route Properties, it's easy to see how convoluted the route is as you move the waypoints in a route up and down in the Route Properties dialog, and in that way you can sort out a route that seems to work. Might be something on the unit itself though; didn't check that.

Hi,

On the 2610 go into route menu then add or edit waypoints. The same place as for manually ordering them and click the auto-arrange button. It will give the best route.

Have I got that option on Mapsource?

Thanks Shep
