Roy Pidcock dealerships in administration

Really when it comes to bikes? How so
In essence it’s the same thing. But the seasonality and size of the market makes it so different.
The UK new bike market is around 100,000 units per year complete.
Add together the three best selling cars of this year (Ford Puma, Kia Sportage and Nissan Qashqai) they make 110,00 sales…and the year isn’t over yet.

In modern times a car is a necessity, broadly speaking, and a motorcycle is very much a luxury leisure item that we choose to buy.

One problem I feel the new owners will have is that they are too close to the Superbike Factory at Donington Park. They have a vast stock of all sorts of bikes, together with clothing, accessories, cafe etc with very good road access, and they both may be competing for the same market.

I doubt it’ll be just a used bike shop for long. MotoGB is a uk importer for all Chinky and Indian bikes by the looks of it. Meaning that they might be planing a Voge or multi brand dealership come spring/summer. For now they just thinking that having acquired the space, it needs to be put to good use straight away and earn back some investment cash.

I did hear a few weeks ago that Moto GB had also acquired another former dealership in Stafford , CG CHELL, a Honda dealer of over 40 yrs standing.
This info came from another bike dealer in Stafford.

I suppose one benefit is that they have said they were recruiting some of Pidcocks staff.
I don't like seeing bike shops closing down, like I don't like seeing pubs closing!

I believe they also import Yamaha and Indian.

I live locally and pop in now and again, not sure I’ve ever buy a bike from SF, especially this branch, a lot of there stock is utter shite, and I did some work for a fella whom worked there and he told me they swop parts around off other bikes making a shiita slightly better.

The staff are not very knowledgeable and read off an iPad, If you purchased a bm from them and wanted to know how stuff worked they would often send you to piddy’s.

Was at the SB Factory the other weekend for a coffee and a meet up with some mates. Had a look around and they had a door open to the inner courtyard which you cannot normally see. Must have been over 200 bikes stored out there fully open to the elements and rusting away

Would be very wary of buying a bike from them!

But people do buy from them. A lot of non discerning customers.
They need to sell a few to keep that place open.

I visit the SB place regularly for coffee on way to work and a mooch round.

If you find a newish bike in good condition it’s a rarity.

Their bikes are generally fucking heaving.

Literally not even dusted off, minging screens and generally in shit state.

I’d only buy nearly new , and then only if it looked mint.

Great place to look for sizing and general looks of a bike, to then go elsewhere to buy.
