Hello a little help please,I own a 2015 Gs and love it ,I have now got my brother looking at Bmw from his Ducati multistrada.I thought he would automatically buy the same as me.He is very interested in a Rt.He lives in the foothills of a so called mountains in Victoria and thinks the Rt suits better. What I would like to know is how does the Rt compare to the Gs on mountain roads and twisties. How hot is the bike in summer compared to the Gs.Some one told me the fairing works to get the hot air away ,is this true.Is there any difference in performance,I know it has the same engine and frame, but does the extra weight slow the Rt down,or does the better aero package on the Rt come in to play. Also does the Rt have different gear ratios.I have posted something similar to this on the Gs site but would like to get both sides.Thankyou in advance .Dogmaboy

Hey, all your questions can be answered with a search on Google. There are many threads where people have switched from GS to RT and back again. This thread talks about heat https://1200rt.com/index.php?topic=2220.0 in the end get your brother to ride both and make his mind up, answering questions on a forum won't help with the decision, nobody buys a bike on others views

Yes you definitely do need to ride them both, I thought I would hate it and end up on the 1600 or even the triumph trophy - RT put a huge grin on my face - quickest decision ever to relieve me of 16k!!!!

I have my own TC GSA and have ridden a TC RT loads at work. I find them like chalk and cheese but both are brilliant in their own way. I would want to have whichever one I just got off :nenau

I was the same, I set out to buy a Trophy, followed by a 1600, then rode the RT just because the dealer suggested to, for comparison. Bought the RT loved it. Never ridden a new GS though, as I vertically challenged and would be on tippy toes. But if I was looking for a GS, again I would also try the Tiger. Buy what ticks the boxes

I'm just moving from a GS lc to RT lc. I like both but for touring and staying warmer and drier the RT will hopefully prove the better bike, time will tell. Both are great fun to ride and will happily be pushed through twisties at a rapid rate of knots. It probably comes down to the question of, are you likely to go off the beaten track, if so buy a GS. Do you want to tour and stay drier, if so buy the RT. Failing that buy the one that you like looking at the most because both are good.:rolleyes:
