I,ve read lots of stuff about seats and have just become more confused about what's what.....so here is my question.
My bike is a 2009 plate LE model, it has what i think is a standard BMW 2 piece heated front and pillion seat.
My problem is i am short of leg ( 29" inside leg) and so am on my tippy toes. I would need to get about at least 1/2" lower to the ground.
The current seat is in the lower position of the two available.
As this is a secondhand bike i need to make sure that the current suspension settings are returned to factory settings just so i have a good base to start from.
So.....my options seem to be,
try to lower the suspension settings without ruining the ride,
try the BMW lower seat option - ( this appears to be a standard seat but with less padding ), but am unsure how much lower this will get me to the ground....compared to the standard seat i have now.
Get the BMW comfort seat, which is supposedly lower than stock.......again i,ve no idea
Get the original refurbished with less padding, different profile, gel insert maybe, to lose some height.
Get a third party seat - Corbin - Sargent etc
I know that BMW made a lower version of this model, anyone know what they did and could i do the same to my bike.....
notes ; I want to keep the seat heating option, i find the original seat plenty comfy, this is all about trying to get my feet on the ground, i know i,m not going to get flat footed, but i need to be much better than tippy toes. I will be touring 2 up later this year and want to feel more secure.
Anybody care to chuck in with whatever you got...........
Thanks, Duncan.
