RTLC ICONIC

Cool, where are you buying it from, Cotswold? Dick Lovett Bristol also have an Iconic for sale.

North Oxford.
I'm aware of three that are about- Welwyn and Bristol being the other two.
North Oxford are my local dealer though, I have a long standing relationship with them so the deal is much better from them.
They also sorted my S1000R out a few weeks ago (some header damage so I put on a full HP system).

They should be giving you a commission though mate- if it wasn't for this thread and your amazing pictures I'd probably have overlooked the Iconic.

Did NOG have the same offer - Nav5 / Bags / Cheap Finance?

Yes, best to stick with them for the loyalty bonuses.
S1000RR with full system. very nice (loud) indeed. I used to have a RR myself and loved it.
So have to still got your KTM as well, or are you trading it for the RT?

Yeah, I have the S1000R- it is ridiculously good and all the hooligan I need.
If I was 10 years younger I'd have the RR but I can't do with being down on my wrists.
That said, the RR is the most comfy sports bike I've ridden.

I'm trading the KTM and it will be a happy day when I get rid of it- I should never have bought it.
It is nice in small doses but it is a terrible long distance tourer.
Wind blast is an absolute nightmare even with a Madstad screen, the stock one is basically unrideable for my 6ft 2 and fairly wide frame.
Also after 3 hours on the bike my hands go numb.
I've had a string of them now but I think I'm basically done with Adventure bikes for a long time.

Just went down to sort it out- I should be collecting No 53 on Wednesday.

Just hit a major stumbling block.
No one seems to have this bike listed for insurance and have refused to insure it.

Who do people have it insured with?

That is because BMW built a normal R1200RT ...... SE? or

Anyway - insure it as a R1200RT with Radio at an increased value. The insurance company doesn't know about the Iconics. My GSA Iconic is insured as a TE at £18k value.

I've spoken to 3 insurance companies and they all confirmed that they will not insure a bike labelled on the V5 as RT Iconic as a regular LE.
In the event of a claim it would result in non payment.
Pretty annoyed about the whole thing and not going to take the risk in case something happens and they refuse to pay out.

I wouldn't want to be insured by a company that stupid. Did you try BMW ?

Oh man, what a drama.
Turns out that Carol Nash are the people to call about this as they have a sensible policy of insuring as the next closest bike if something doesn't appear in their list.

I have no shame in outing Bennetts, MCN and Devitt as being completely useless in this regard- no-one was listening to me when I said 'it is an RT LE with different paint'.

Also try Principle Insurance, they are a broker, but very sensible. Got my RT with them, but also had a Harley CVO Road King with them, which was new and nobody had it on their books, they managed to insure it, at a better price than Harley insurance, who by the way are C Nash

My Iconic is insured with Bennetts, they insured it as an RTLE Iconic, valued at £20600, no drama.

Maybe I got a jobsworth.
I was already with Bennetts for my KTM 1190 and Carole Nash for my S1000R.
I spoke to 2 different people at Bennetts and they refused to insure it.
It was easier to add the RT to my S1000R policy, despite being double the value of the S1000R than it was to get insurance elsewhere.

All sorted, I collect tomorrow morning.

Dare I propose an Iconic owners meet up at some stage?

Why does time slow down the day before you collect a new bike?

Yes, its like being a 7 year old waiting for Christmas isnt it.

Iconic meet up, now theres a cool thought. we'll have to see what we can arrange then.

All sorted, back home now doing some prep for an afternoon ride into Wales and back.
I'm calling her the Scarlet Monster after my dog 'Scarlett O'Hairy' who is also called 'monster'.

Obligatory pics- I'll take some better ones when the sun comes out.
