Hey you can't own a location man!!
Has anyone had a problem with there new GS. I've had mine since last Thursday and it already has had to be resprayed. The problem seems to be on the left had side frame near the peg, it seems my inside ankle has rubbed the paint right through to the frame.

Whats more suprising is that all my gear is BMW made so it came as a shock to find it when I was cleaning. The bikes already been into the dealer for its first service and they did respray and cover the area with clear film to prevent it happening again, but after todays ride out I find the film has rubbed away!!

Seems to me there should be a plate like the right side to cover the frame...

Can anyone tell me if this has happened to them, or if there is such a plate?

:shoot:

Yes its happened on my bike too & the film doesn`t last 2 minutes.
I`m surprised the development riders don`t notice things like this?

Tobers (he's a bloke who helps all of us who suffer from wind ;) ) had exactly the same problem IIRC.

Cue Tobers...........................................

I recall seeing this mentioned several times before. IIRC if you use motocross style or BM's GS boots, they rub the paint off. A real PITA; fortunately hasn't happened to me.

I don't mind there being minor teething problems on a new model but only if they come up with solutions which obviously they haven't yet on this one.

I think any boots will rub the paint off in this area more so if the bike is ridden in the rain & grit gets trapped between the boot & frame. Mine has the weld a little proud & so my boot rubs on this

Has anyone had the same trouble on the off (right hand ) side with the heel of the riders boot rubbing on the swinging arm ? cos my sze 12s do ! fortunately I noticed it befor damage occured and put a piece of carbon film to take the wear.:shoot:
Mike.

Yes my 12`s do the same! I`ve also put some clear tape on the rear peg brackets as the heel of my boot sometimes catches that when I have my toes on the peg.

I haven't actually suffered from any paint rubbing off. I did have a sidestand rub off once....

What did happen was that my big gnarly adventurer-like Sidi SRS Flexforce boots rubbed through the bottom edge of the seat cover when standing on the pegs doing brave off-roading stuff. Got a new seat under warranty :D

No matter how I site my feet, I am UNABLE to get my heels to rub the frame. Do you guys have, ahem Large Feet etc, or do you walk like Max Wall/John Wayne?

I, sadly, have never been big leggy.......
