Rukka Madagasca-R

Many thanks for that link :thumb Motolegends have a 'Price beat' on at the moment where they will beat any genuine discounted price by 10%. I just received my Trek R suit from them today, £1522.80 with free delivery. It appears to be really good quality, just like my Rukka Paijanne, but with better features. I'm off to France and Spain next weekend so it'll get a good try out.
Be very interested to hear how you get on with the Trek-R, especially if it's hot weather. I've been looking at it - even went to try it on - but am slightly worried that it's not as breathable as something like a Kim Baja S4.

Motolegends always have pricebeat on . It’s not a temporary special offer.

I have just left Infinity, Holborn.

The jacket and trousers, whilst sized at the same number as my other Rukka suits, comes up a size large. Another, one size down, is being ordered in for me to try.

Other than that, it’s a very nice suit.

I found that too. Troos were also long compared to other Rukka kit.

Indeed they are.

I am six foot, with a 32 inch inside leg. They were too long. I am hoping that, going down a size might help.
I’m the same size. Motolegends couldn’t source shorter troos at the time. I was also concerned that this suit wouldn’t flow as much air as I wanted so in the end I went for the Klim Baja S4 instead…

Likewise, six foot and 32" leg. 36" waist and 44" chest. I went for Euro 54 in both jacket and pants and they fit perfectly. My other Rukka jacket is a 56 and it's just a little too big and bulky. Just been for a 90 mile ride this afternoon and I'm very impressed with the suit, a lot of money for something that's made in China but the quality is there. The linings are a bit bulky when rolled up in the supplied sacks but pack down nicely in a vacuum bag. It'll get a proper try out next week. (y)

I watched the M/L review and was quite impressed.I had a look and try on at an Infinity, and:-

I wasn't sure if there was any wind or rain protection; it had lots of vents which suggested there was some wind chill protection.
The fabric looked like it might cope with a shower, especially after a nil wax coating.
The Goretex over jacket looked very good - even had pockets.
Infinity did not have my size in trousers, though the ones they had looked ok; no braces included.

Things that put me off:
I think I would find the waterproof over trousers, if they slipped down a bit, restrictive at the crotch when getting on and off.the bike.
Compared to my Rukka Kingsley, it was very supple, but def felt not as good quality, and I would not like to slide down tarmac wearing it. The Kingsley feels at the top end of AA; the TrekR feels at the lower end of AA.
Even with the adjuster straps, the elbow armour would not stay in place
I was hoping for a more road orientated suit; this felt off road.

Good kit, but not for my use case. Hope I haven't rained on anyones parade.

The rain protection is there but it’s separate. The suit has a removable Gorte-Tex liner, for the jacket and trouser.

It is stretchable, meaning it can be worn over or under the suit. This is quite a good idea, as it saves you taking the entire suit off, should it suddenly start to piss down, whilst you hoon.

Other than that, the suit is not waterproof per-se. It’s not designed to be.

Absolutely not! This is exactly what this forum is for, sharing experiences and preferences so that others can make up their own minds. Thank you for this👍👍👍

The bit I don’t really get with this suit is why the material is so windproof that it has to have vents - and why they DWR coated it (I think). Surely the main advantage of a separate waterproof layer is airflow?

I went to see the Chap in the Cap, cash in hand but putting to one side I couldn’t get a good fit, I concluded it had no real advantage over my Badlands from a venting/airflow perspective but with the added complexity of a separate rain suit. The only upside I could see is that it’ll be much easier to launder than a laminate suit.

In the end I went Baja S4 plus Forecast rain suit from Cliff and Jenny. Eight weeks in Canada this summer will tell whether it was a good or bad choice :D

I'm currently in the Pyrenees with my new Trek R suit having ridden down from Rotterdam. I haven't used the linings yet other than as a 'Destination Jacket ' (brilliant idea!) but I'm very glad the suit is windproof as it's been down to 9 degrees in places and the Trek R has been just about warm enough with just a t shirt and a thin fleece. The vents are very effective when in city traffic at 24 degrees too. I'm very pleased with it so far. 👍

Infinity, Holborn have called me. The suit, one size down, has now arrived in their store. I’ll be going across to Holborn after the bank holiday, to give it a go.

Hi Number 6, Well I stand corrected! Looking forward to the next report.Maybe I should re-visit the Trek-R.

Back to Infinity.

The size 46 jacket is fine. The trouser, still too long. The very helpful staff in Holborn, called the UK distributor. Apparently, the suit is now discontinued, pending an update. The distributor has no more trousers to offer.

I bought the jacket and am now on the hunt for the matching trouser.

As a part of my quest, I have contacted Hideout Leather, to see if they might be able to take an inch or so off the bottom of the legs. In the meantime, I have contacted several sellers here in the UK and Germany, asking whether they have the trouser in Euro 46 in the C1 length.
