I recently asked Infinity Motorcycles, where I bought my RukKa jacket about frayed cuffs, who then sent the pictures to Rukka. The reply was wear and tear and not covered under warranty. So I asked do they repair them through a third party as I do not want to void the warranty. I was told it would invalidate the warranty but it is your only option!

Bearing in mind how much Rukka gear costs, I find it hard to believe they do not have repair agents to continue the warranty. Warranty runs out 2027. Anyone else come across this?

To be honest all they are really interested in is taking money from people - most big clothing brands are nothing more than marketting organisations, first and foremost.

How old is the Rukka jacket and how bad is the fraying? Photos?
I had a similar issue with a four year old Rukka Nivala jacket, water would flood in through the front zip and shoulders. Off it went via Sportsbike shop to a Rukka approved repair centre over Manchester way. Many weeks later it was returned to me. Subsequently it was tested in heavy rain and the fault was still present. I took it back to Sportsbike Shop who were useless and could offer no solution. They also refused to refund me when asked. Yes I know it was four years old but it had a five year Warranty so it was still under Warranty. Not much point of a five year Warranty if it’s not going to be honoured.

Anyway after returning home I simply called Sportsbike Shop HQ, I think they’re out Lincoln way, explained the situation and they immediately offered a full refund because the jacket was still under Warranty and the repair had been unsuccessful. Shit service from the local shop, excellent service from HQ.

Boy was the manager pissed when I went back to the shop, she’d been instructed to refund no questions asked by HQ.

Go direct to the head office and don’t take no for an answer.

Lifetime as long as not worn out (wear and tear)

There is another well know company who has a lifetime guarantee on its product, but not if the garment has heavy wear / worn out

Pictures.

Did they send to Rukka, or did they send to Tran Am, the UK importer. Tran Am handle all warranty claims. Maybe try and contact Rukka direct. Had an issue with the stitching on my Rukka trousers shortly after purchase around 10 years ago, it was Tran Am that sorted, Infinity sent the kit to them and they agreed the warranty claim.

They sent pictures to a company called TranAm, and their warranty manager Rich T stated caused by gloves velcro and not a manufacturing issue. I think what bothers me is I am willing to pay for repair but it will void the Rukka warranty which is wrong in my mind.

I cant see a Rukka UK website only luhta.com their global website.

From those pictures they will say that it is normal wear and tear, they will blame it on your gloves - I have had the same issue with BMW gear.
I can live with that, but I cant believe they can't be repaired be a named Co to continue the warranty. They say any repair voids the warranty!

I guess they do this for simplicity, once a garment has been worked on by someone else they would need to inpsect the repair and check that no other damage has been caused by the third party - must easier to say their warranty is void.

As an aside most manufacturers warranties are BS - it is just another marketting ploy.

I have sent an email to Rukka Global. I think i know what the answer will be!!! Will update in due course 😀

To be honest, if they don't honour the warranty anyway what does it matter. If a zip failed for example, they would still have to honour the warranty unless they could prove that the repair had an effect on the zip failing. which they probably wouldn't be able to do.

The issue in the pictures is not really fraying, it's pilling, as they say, most likely caused by velcro. I would push this directly with Luhta, the product should be fit for the purpose intended, in this case; for use on a motorcycle whilst wearing gloves. They should use a fabric, or even leather, that doesn't pill, in this area. As Klim do. It's probably due to being partly designed from a previous style that wasn't for motorcycles, by a non-motorcyclist. Luhta used to make outerwear for M&S, or still do. In my opinion it's a design flaw. Look at newer styles and see if it's been put right, if it has you have a case.

Put a bit of light mud on your boots and, with that bit of wear and tear, bod’s think you a real rufty-tufty Adventure (with a capital A) bikermate.

PS Run a lighter quickly over the pile, it’ll singe the threads down. Try not to burn your house down at the same time.

The old lighter trick eh? - it will for sure invalidate the warranty.

Just to add i bought the jacket new in 2021 with a extended 6 year warranty. I only use it on trips as I have an older jacket for running about local etc.
