Rumors for 2019...!

Rode an 18 demo gsa with everything loaded on it today

Sadly didn't do for me - too sanitised, like a car without a roof
ESA was harsh and choppy on back roads in all settings
Gearbox was just as bad as a 13 WC bike that I rode 5 years ago - lurches forward at lights putting it into 1st, same as it ever did - crashes up through the gears and only way to cure it is use the gear assist

Tried it on some familiar roads and it was disappointing

Took a R9T Urban out and that was a lovely motorcycle - engine was way smoother and quieter and delivered the power well
Pity the suspension is budget - but I guess that is easily fixed

Pity you did not get it for a week-end as I found the first day of testing same thoughts as yourself, then on the next day when I figured out the Dynamic, Road and rain settings, completly changed the ride experience, not even bothered using Enduro or even using the Enduro pro plug, no need for a bit of gravel at the most for me.

Don't overlook that the plug also means the bike remembers your settings rather than going back to default after switching off the ignition.

The suspension on the GS Rallye TE is fab, it makes riding poorly surfaced back roads a joy - Road mode with Auto-preload.

My 2013 bike remembers its settings and the plug is still stuck in the seat.

Cheers already learnt that the hard way, when I plugged it it to try, and somehow switched of the ABS, then wondered why the bike was feeling really different, hence the plug is back under the seat.

I am still unsure if I like the esa on my bike. On anything other dynamic I find it really bouncy.
Disagree on the gearbox though - it is a step above my 2012 and 2015 bikes.

I loved the urban gs. It was just pure fun. If I was going back to having two bikes I would have the urban

Production stopped at factory now.....they're retooling ahead of factory close-down for summer.....R1250GS available by end of the year..

It's exciting, I like it when we get another influx of Fresher Beta Testers.

Let the fun begin :D

Speaking to a BMW guy at an international show in the not so distant past he had his doubts that the current engine config would meet the next Euro 7 emission standards (current standard is Euro 5 until 31 December 2020and Euro 7 becomes standard on cars in 2020). Looks like a whole new engine design again. BMW is preparing for a whole host of new safety technology that will be mandatory on bikes. The days of carefree motorcycling will soon be over and the default choice for the willing who will continue to be beta testers.

Basically forget about Akra headers and exhaust and Hilltop if the EU have their way :D

That is coming. The tech for the Euro 7 GS can be found on that new self steering electric bike. Apparently lean sensitive safety control systems that can sense when the road is wet and adjust the lean control to limit the angle the bike will lean and the way the throttle respond to inputs and how the suspension reacts in a corner. The steering assist would replace steering dampers to allow for better monitoring and control of the rider inputs to help adjust other settings on the bike. It is going to be a technological tour de force.

Sounds like it will be clinical, boring and dull. Only good for those who use bikes as functional commuter get from A-B without the desire to have fun whilst doing so.

I think I’ll stock up on real bikes before this bull shit spoils it.

E bikes

Euro 5 for bikes only starts in 2020 so if the previous timescales are used it would be circa 2028 before Euro 7 kicks in. My last petrol bike will do me from there!
