Running In latest advice..new triple black saturday

There's nowt that's flat, round or square.

Spoken like a real 'Hampshire' Northerner.

. . . except
1) There's nowt that's flat - except your cap
2) There's nowt that's round - except your meet'n'tatty pie
3) There's nowt that's square - except those namby, pamby, shandy drinking southern sausage jockeys

Babelfish failed to translate. WTF?

Utter bollocks. Burning oil has nowt to do with lubrication.

Hmm
It says that the oil level should be checked regularly and top up when necessary !
My previous bike it was using some oil like every 500 miles around 200-250 ml !!
We all speak from our experience here and not wasting time or given people wron advice . Anyway in my book a bike engine should use oil !

Sorry, but I seem to have missed your point completely. If an engine burns oil, that has nowt to do with it being lubricated properly. Unless of course it's a 2T.

Burning oil is, ultimately, undesirable in a 4T engine as it poisons the catalyst.

For the record, my 08 bike had its lungs exercised very early in its life and it has never used any oil.

I think that you are missing the point here !
I never mentioned burning oil ! Don't try to be clever here I am not a idiot , I think after 10 years off biking , 6 brand new bike's , I have a little experience and I know what I am talking about.

happy bunny looking forward to saturday :beerjug: ...wor lasses ma and pa arrive same day ...think i'll be out playing with the new babe
Anyway i'd just like your advice on running in..read previous thread regarding same issue about running it in hard to cut its teeth

Whats the latest advice for you knowledgeable ones out there? cheers in advance:beer:

Why does it always have to be about the last bit power? I have run in two new 1200s and followed the book both times - the first bike I put 45,000 miles on with no serious issues and the second has now done 19,000 without problems too, so I suggest that doing it by the book works just fine.

...A good bike should use oil !! That how is stays lubricated ! The more the better!
So if it uses it and isn't burning it, where's it going?

But hey - I know nowt. I'm only an elderly, degree-qualified engineer that wrote a paper on lubrication. Came in handy for my 40+ years of motorcycling and 50-odd bikes...

Old boy , you have a degree in Vaseline or other compatable lubricants !
No wander why came to you handy for 40 + years off solo riding :blast

And which sence [sic] do you think is the commune [sic] one ....?

Back to the question..... what do you think is happening to this oil which is "used"....?

Ask the above Vaseline examiner the one with multi degree's , he knows more abut it !
You just want to get technical with me but it is not your lucky night !

So what happens if you do make an arse of running it it and it burns oil, is this a warranty issue or would they refuse?

If I remember correctly, there's a service spec. of so many km per litre and they might look at it if the oil consumption is more than that. Then again, they might not.....:nenau
