Not needed. The filter takes out contaminants down to micron size and the oil will not have deteriorated at all in 100 miles.

Manufacturing cleanliness and lubrication/filtration technology are so good these days that most modern cars will often not have the original factory oil changed until 20,000+ miles.

So what do you think is happening to this oil that's being "used"...?

He's gone very quiet about that because he doesn't know. Which is irritating on a 'technical' forum where people expect technical answers, rather than opinions.

Still, hurling a few insults around is a good alternative, I suppose.
