One more 'soon to be' GS owner joins the ranks - Hi all
I'm sure this must have been covered before but haven't turned up anything searching the forum.
On Tuesday I pick up a new GS12
This will be the first new road bike I have bought for longer than I care to remember so I am going to have to run her in.
Now I have run in race engines on dynos but never a road bike on the road.
I am very tempted to run the bike in similar to a dyno run i.e. not 'labouring' the engine but using *all* the revs, up and down the box all the time (road conditions allowing of course!). The idea being to form a good seal between the rings and bore, not letting the bore 'glaze'.
This may also go some way to helping reduce the initial Boxer oil consumption?
I appreciate that there is no difinitive answer to the question but I would welcome peoples views, and better still, experience in how they have run in their GS's i.e. 'Ride like you stole it' or as per the manual.
Cheers in advance and here's to a long and happy relationship with my first ever Beemer
