rusty mirror 'stems'

my mirror 'stems' (stalks??? ) are rusty. Tried to sort them after last winter with anti rust paint, no joy. Any thougths???

Yes, they like rust. 2003 GS liberally coated in ACF50. rEST OF BIKE RUST FREE.

What about painting them with smooth black hammerite

Scrape off the joke paint,treat with rust killer and clean down to bare metal.
Mask off and spray.2 coats primer,2 coats black.
I had to use a file to clean the bad rust off mine.

Give 'em a quick rub down then paint with Hammerite. Not the best finish obviously but a quick and easy fix.

Another vote the Hammerite option. I had small pieces coming off at one time and just covered it in black. Problem solved.

Did mine with Hamerite spay paint, two or three coats gives a lovely smooooth finish.
