If you're looking for a decent dealer and you live with in striking distance of Cardiff then I'd recommend Rydale, Penarth Road. They gave me a decent (above book price) trade in on my S-reg Honda Horent when I bought my GS in September. Since then I've been back to have various bits fitted - they'll order non-BMW parts and fit'em no problem (did my Remus race can & y-piece). Nothing's too much trouble & its the sort of place where you are welcome any time for a coffee & natter. Best bike dealer I've ever used, not like some of the tossers I've encountered when buying other makes.

:D

I too would recommend Rydales. Bit iffy on returning your calls though-breakdown of communications between some staff.

Further observations

My bike is currently nearing the end of its rebuild after my crash 6 weeks ago. Have to say Rydales have done a beautiful job, just as I would have expected from a BMW dealer. My bike has been fully restored to 'as new' condition. Respect is due to Jim and the workshop boys.

I need a bike for everyday transport for my job and they have lent me an F650GS, which they are not obliged to do as far as I am aware.

My bike went in for a routine 18k service

They found the rear brake pads were worn to the limit.

Unfortunately, when they went to replace the pads the could not get the caliper to open as one of the pistons is corroded.

Rydales contacted BMW who are going to cough up for 50% of the cost of a new caliper.

The bike is just 3 years old. I doubt any other manufacturer would make a contribution to a rusty caliper 24 months after the warranty had expired.

Oh, and they've told me to keep the 650CS overnight too. What an absolutely fab bike for riding around town. I get into such tiny gaps. It's really low geared in the first 2 gears which allows you to get away from traffic lights very rapidly. Okay on a dual carriageway up to 80mph. Too many vibes after then.

Kawasaki let me have a set of cams and followers for a 6 year old GPZ900R with 60000 miles on the clock a few years back.

have found rydales to be an excellent place to visit .
very helpful all the time . i aired some concerns about my throttle bodies balance and they checked them and adjusted them at no cost .
:shoot:

It's a pity they can't take in non-BMW part-ex's at a realistic price otherwise they be perfic

try Bath Rd in Bristol - they have an arrangement with Bransons of Yeovil & Gloucester (possibly even owned by same outfit)

They gave a very good part ex on my Honda CBR6 for a year old 1150GS

Bumma, I was in Cardiff this weekend for a sporting occasion at the Mill Stadium and managed to miss this thread...

Wanted to buy a new pair of boots and those sparkly GS1's look nice...... and would have gone to a recommended dealer..... rather than just any old place.

No doubt be back in August.... if my old boots can last that long?
