S1000XR

In one of the reviews, someone mentioned that there are more suspension adjustments that can be made in the computer. I'm not sure if thats correct, as I haven't read the manual yet, but will have a look for you.:thumb

Ignore that. I've just looked in the manual and it's just the two settings, along with rider, rider & luggage and rider & pillion with luggage. There's 30 seconds I won't get back!:P

So, who's gonna be the first with a re-map - reckon that could go a long way to curing the vibe issue?

Andres

I'd only get one if I get a full system, but that may not be for a while. The fuelling on the standard bike is the best I've experienced, and is spot on.

The vibes are here to stay.

It's fundemental and BMW acknowledge it by the use of rubber inserts on the yokes.

My bike , as the miles pile on, is changing regarding the vibes......not sure which way, lol, but I thnk its receding. Of course I do not have a death grip on the bars but no doubt the elimination of vibes would be a benefit.

The vibes are not a problem.......outside of 5000 to 5500 rpm, .......come on this is a straight 4 that revs to .....12000, over 6000 its perfect.

Its probably the valve train that is the culprit and that has left the station and unlikely to be modified at any time sooooooon.

Ding Dong!:D

NOT ME.. I pulled out the sale today due to the vibes and harsh suspension, after using an XR last week in Europe, at touring speeds it drains you as its very highly strung and the complaints regarding the vibes are on the up, so its not for me .

Anyone want a red front mudguard ! Brand new £80 +pp

You really need to try the new Multistrada. No nasty vibes , ballistic but still a relaxing tourer if you want to drop the pace. Good dash n integrated electrics now too.

Which dealers was it from ?
Just wondering if i can get it earlier than mine

Pidcocks / its a low bike / they have all the extras in stock as well, I ordered em !! panniers - XR seat - Hp levers - Hp chain adjusters - tinted screen - Hp rear sets and rear pegs.

If you ring ask for mark in sales tell him Dave passed the details on.

Good luck.

Strange you should say that, whilst away I saw several dvt bikes and when parked alongside the XR, you realise the duc is a thing of beauty, I'm tempted and several calls later I can have a dvt nxt wk in white - touring pack- termi slip on - fogs, the discount for outright purchase ain't to tempting tho £400 !!

That's a blessing.....................

Hello all

Like Ding Dong, I rode an XR up and down mountain passes in Italy last week (although not Stelvio - I used a GS for that...:D).

I posted a negative review on a couple of other forums, and did people get the shits! Christ, some wanted to lynch me for daring to go against the mighty all knowing mothership!

As we are all discerning, broad minded adults here :D, I will share my impressions with you.

Yes, the engine goes well, yes the brakes are great, yes it holds a line nicely, but why, in the name of all that is holy, did BMW make it so bloody tall!?

I'm 5 10 in the old money, and I was on my toes...stupid! What is the point? That front wheel has a nice fat road tyre on it - it is not going off road.... I also found it top heavy at slow speed.

The low suspension version that Ding Dong posted up should be the standard version.

Oh, and the vibes were awful, and the suspension rock hard.

God, it is ugly too....

If you are a rangy bastard with a cast iron arse and no aesthetic sensibilities, go for it.

;)

It sounds like the only good thing about the XR is that it does fit normal people and not just the fucking midgets that the rest of the range seems to be aimed at these days !!!
