For all you surfers on Mac that like Safari, here's a bit of code to put into terminal that speeds Safari up a fair bit....Open terminal, put the first line in and press enter, then do the second one. Works a treat.:D

defaults write com.apple.Safari WebKitInitialTimedLayoutDelay 0.25

defaults write com.apple.Safari WebKitResourceTimedLayoutDelay 0.0001

Before I risk dabbling with this, can you tell me what the code is doing and why, if it works, Apple do not do it by default with their Safari software?

Are we opening up the same can of worms as on the "Hilltop remap' thread? ;-)

My Safari is vey quick, so not willing to stuff up my OSX

I'm no tech guru, but it basically tells Safari to not delay in loading the site. I did it this morning as since Mavericks, Safari has been lagging quite a bit. Now there is a significant improvement in speed.....:D

I'll be honest, my Safari is super quick as it is ...... actually it's 'instant'
I think I'll be leaving my terminal commands alone!

I bought myself a macBook Pro with the Retina screen for my Christmas present, with the i7 chip and the SSD 'hard drive'. As you say, it whips through stuff
