My update on Kearys

I heard that Mark was back doing the sales so I thought I'd give them one last try before going up to Duffys to purchase. I admit that I was so annoyed with not getting a quote a few months back that I had decided not to buy another bike from them. Anyway I digress,Mark inspected my Boxer Cup and within 5 mins gave me a fair trade in price. I've spent the last week deciding on a second hand 12GSA or a new one.
 
A Very Efficient machine

I am fresh from a visit to Kearys... My two year old GS12 was getting its front cover done under warrenty... Before the 24 month warrenty had run out I had reported the familiar ( to most GS 12 'S )bubbling paint just where the too short front mudgaurd lets the road crude do its worst or the sponge type sound deadener thing that lives on the inside of the cover ,whichever version is true the front covers on a lot of these bikes seem to suffer ... After a quick look Adrain agreed it was warrenty work and we agreed upon a date for me to drop it in. I dropped the bike in and was given their demo R1200 gs to use while mine was on the ramp...(liked it!:augie) I returned to the dealer and since my bike was not yet finished I was able to spend some time walking around looking at the stock and wish my dream fleet... I got talking to Mark in Sales and tried on a really nice jacket together we kicked some tyres ...After my second coffee ,taken while looking at a slide show of some of Eddie's bike trips I was informed my bike was ready as I looked out Eddie and Adrain were washing all my hard earned street crede of my bike to try and match it to its shiny new front cover that Jimmy had spannered on ...As the front cover was coming off anyway ,I had enquired about replacing the belt which was done for the cost of the belt... I have thought about it and cannot think of any reason to deduct Kearys a single point , even the toilets were clean... 10 out 10 from me:clap
 
4/10 would have made it 3 but they might start bombarding my phone with texts! Annoying that!
Sound Lads really, just found the charge for a tyre change a total rip off!
Was told that the charge was standard BMW issue which I have no doubt is true but nonetheless a ripoff.

Will tell u exactly next week, travelling at the moment. Dont want to give a figure in case its wrong and i do them a disservice but will post price nxt week. I can just remember it being grossly excessive.

A friend of mine who has an 1100S got a text from them saying something along the lines of " Your part has come in - please come and collect and bring lots of money". Obviously someone messing with the customer text program and hit send by mistake. Couple of minutes later he got the official text about his part. he said nothing about the first text as he didn't want to get anyone fired.:augie
 
kearys only appear to want to deal with cash buyers - are many of you guys going on the "long way up" ?

They charged 90euro for the front tyre and 70euro for rear tyre! Thats just to change it. Would have replied sooner but was away. Funny thing is that I thought when I was away that it was about 160euro but thought to myself naaah thats way too much i better get my facts right. Well the invoice sits in front of me now and thats exactly what it says. Those prices are subject to VAT also. Now that is daylight robbery.
 
Victory Tyres in Limerick charge €10 per tyre, and will take your old tyres for disposal for another €2. You need to take off and replace the wheels and he can only balance the front.
