The ashford branch is where 'powerhouse' used to be on the industrial estate by the TA centre if thats any help to you. My mate has had load of test rides out of em without any probs and i saw a few 990's in there last time i popped over, dont know if any of them were demo's though.

I have had a 650daka but not to good on the road. The 800gs I've been told are sh1t off road but not been able to try one. Anyone ride one off road, lots that can comment please.

They're not.
We've had several out on trips off road, and they do as well as the 1200s.
Must confess we've never seen one pushed hard off road by an experienced offroader so I don't know what they're like when a good rider starts pushing the envelope but certainly, for average use on medium to hard going, they do well.

They're certainly better in sand than the 11xx and 1200's.

But as Maverick points out a few posts up, it seems like you've already decided and are trying to justify a 990 /050 now, even if only subconsciously

The wife’s been out again on it and says it’s not so bad.
I've been looking and road testing and come to the conclusion the R1100gs is best for the trips I'm doing (long distance and off road). So I'm going to keep that and get a pogo to go out and play on.
Come on BMW make us another bike to tour and off road on that’s as reliable as the old ones.
