This is an extension of a post in the Zumo 660 section, but have posted here, as I now feel the problem is possibly Schuberth rather than Garmin.

I recently installed the SRC System in my C3 Helmet and am preparing for a trip to the Scottish Highlands. I have paired my HTC phone with the Zumo and the Zumo to the SRC System using the Zumo Phone and Audio options respectively.

I can get (Simulator) Navigation Voice prompts and also MP3 Music playing in my headset via Bluetooth at OK volume, but not terrible loudly, even though the volume controls are all maxed out. The SRC System voice status messages (GPS Connected) seem slightly louder than those delivered from the Garmin via Bluetooth.

I cannot hear the Navigation Voice Prompts at all while actually driving and I cannot seem to increase the volume any more.

I have tried repositioning the SRC Speaker units within the helmet recess, but that makes little difference.

I tried to pair the Zumo and SRC System via the Phone option after removing the HTC phone, but the Zumo reports a failure to connect, even though it can 'see' the SRC System.

There are two flaps of padding over each speaker driver in the helmet, which presumably don't do much for the sound volume.

Any ideas to increase the sound volume apart from manipulating the Navigation Voice Prompt files in software discussed elsewhere on this forum? (Obviously this should not really be necessary).

While I liked the idea of no cables and separate loose ear buds, I think I may have to modify the SRC System by fitting Ultimate Ears Noise Reducing Ear Pieces. What model of ear buds do people generally recommend, given that riding a bike with engine and wind noise is not generally conducive to HiFi quality?

Thanks for any insights. I am also awaiting replies from Garmin and Schuberth to this query but this forum may produce a quicker response :).

I don't have a 660 myself but..

have you checked in Tools --> Settings --> Bluetooth that the navigation instructions are being sent by bluetooth and not to the 3.5mm stereo plug output?

Yes, Bluetooth is enabled. I can get the navigation prompts via Bluetooth, but they are just not loud enough when driving.

Thanks for your suggestion anyway.

Anybody have any recommendations for ear bud type noise reduction speakers (Ultimate Ears, etc?)

I have a C3 with the SRC system and wear earplugs all the time and still find the output (music, nav and phone calls) to be decent volume. Me thinks there's something up with your settings.

Hi Simon_h

Do you have two layers of padding/insulation between your ear and the SRC System driver/speakers?

I am fairly sure I have ALL settings on volume set to maximum.

Will try a set of in ear head phones cabled direct to the Zumo (when it is dry enough) to see if that is OK when driving (should be).

Even cleaned out the wax from my ears!!

I've got what ever the standard padding is...ie, I haven't customised it at all. I'll check later.

slightly different set up to you but...
I have an HTC, 550 and autocom dongle.
I have paired the zumo to the htc
I have paired the zumo to autocom as headset.
I did it in the opposite order originally (autocom then htc)and had low volumes, unpaired them and did it in phone then h/set order
and had higher volume... No idea if it was just a co-incidence though but may be worth a shot..

Because I read somewhere here, of someone improving quality by pairing the Zumo to the SRC System as a phone, not via the audio option, I tried to do that yesterday. However, although the Zumo could see the SRC System, it refused to couple. May try again in case I forgot to uncouple the Zumo/SRC System before hand - I had disconnected the HTC phone though.

Thanks
