Scooters across the desert...the official launch....

Annie...I'd love to have you along, and indeed, girls are most definately allowed......(we do have several coming already )

Sadly, I have over 23 people lined up and with only 12 riders plus three support vehicle seats, I'm afraid it's fully booked and then some.

There might be a place on the return trip (we're bringing back the support vehicles after donating the scoots) but even then, we have too many people.

Really sorry....but I will add you to the list and will get in touch if people start dropping out due to work/family commitments etc.......which given a trip of this nature and duration, is pretty likely.

Next year I'll be doing it again though......but instead of a sensible trip on scooters, it might be something a little more whacky ;)

FFS don't let the light of my life know this. She thinks it's "Daft Blokes in the Desert" with Fanum, not "Ice Cold In Alex" with Sylvia Syms :(

The wimmin that are coming are all with their hubbies Rog.

Apart from Jez, the crappest stuntman :D

:D :D

Just blagged you a firm pledge for € 3000 (+/- GBP 2050) for the good cause courtesy of Pioneer [blatant plug] http://www.pioneer-eur.com you can decide what you want to do with it but their only condition is they want to buy something tangible either for the mission or the charities. If for example you want to buy a generator or some tyres for the vehicles or medical supplies just tell me where you need the money sending and it will be done. You can use it for the entry fees, ferry tickets, insurance or whatever as long as it's something tangible - the only thing they don't want to do is deposit the money onto a bank a account for general expenses.
Can't say fairer than that :D

Wow...fantastic Marc, 'kin awesome!!!

Am pm'ing with some ideas...but thanks a million!

My pleasure Mr Fanum sir. I look forward to helping you spend it :D

Now if I can get this from where I work how about the rest of you going along and tapping up your gov'ner and seeing what you can sort out. One thing for sure if you don't ask you'll get nothing and if you do ask the worse they can say is no but a few more companies stepping up would do the cause a power of good .

Make it your mission to ask the question - you know it makes sense ;) Most companies will support charities to a greater or lesser extent so get in there before someone else does - ask tomorrow. :thumb

Not the book section I know... but...

You might be interested in a little read of a book called Leanings by Peter Egan (of Cycle World Magazine).
ISBN 0-7603-1158-7

It is a collection of his editorials and columns from the magazine.
One of the stories is of a little trip he made on his 1964 50cc Honda C100 which he'd bought secondhand for $75.
He goes from Madison, Wisconsin over into Iowa and back.... not a massive journey but very entertaining as his mate goes with him on his pushbike.

The whole book is excellent and I can't recommend it highly enough, niceley written, amusing... and kind of "real world" motorcycling.

Sorry if I'm too off track but as you are using little Hondas thought this might strike a chord.:)
