Scooters in the Sahara the saga continues

If anyone is interested. Dennis Robinson will be doing a talk on the first 2 scooters in the Sahara trips. It will be held at the Cotswold Outdoor store in Carmarthen, on Friday the 11th February at 7pm. Entry is Free. Please all come along!

Dennis,

Just a quick note to say .. that a bag of balls are on their way .. so you'll need a file and dremmel once again to remodel 'em for the C90 mirror stem arms, as you did for Scoots II .

Shall include a camera mount .. assuming its a GoPro or Contour set up.

Best of luck and pleased to support you bloody crazy lot for heart felt good cause :thumb

Ongoing support for the scoots

Great to see the legend that is Scooters in the Sahara lives on! No doubt the next batch of C90s will go on to give sterling service like previous ones, but I think it would be good to organise some sort of plan to raise funds for some spares. Not too sure how to approach this, but a ready supply of new/recon engines, bearings, chains, etc. would extend the life of existing machines out there.

Its probably too late to organise anything for this trip, but if Dennis & Ian can put together a wish list, Elaine & I don't mind getting involved in some fundraising/procurement activities.

Anyone else got any thoughts?

Hi Steve & Elaine!
I bumped into Geoffrey Deacon at a GS-rich curry night yesterday and he reminded me that a lot of spares (and maybe bikes?) were procured from Leicestershire Police on (I think) the first Scoots through his and Bryn's sterling efforts. Maybe worth seeing if they can contribute again?
I'm happy to liaise (cos I'm local :thumb)

Definitely worth an enquiry. Hopefully once Dennis and crew are back, we will have a better idea of what is needed.

The Chicken Chaser Roars :)

Just spent a day on Og's Chicken Chaser..
Put a CDI unit on as old one was intermittent, got sparecoil as well as it's usually either or...

There it was sitting on the ramp and I thought >>
"I'll just check if it sparks, pushed kickstart down by hand and the bugger started
Sid said it sounded like someone farting in the bath:eek: :D no exhaust on at the time.....
Just finished rest of service including new rear tyre, oversize  2.75x17 :thumb2

My legs are not too good at the moment so Sid did the test ride...

He remarked>>
"I'd ride this bugger to the Gambia...
It flies"

MOT will be done Monday or Tuesday.......

Pics will follow later on as soon as i upload them :thumb2

Oversize Rear tyre, fitted by Sid :) improves the handling as well
Runs great, and really feels sound.......:)

Dennis' talk went well last Friday night. About 12 people there inc Lamble.

He's obviously given that talk before as it was pretty polished. :thumb2

Great job Proff and test pilot Sid- Thanks a lot! :clap :bounce1

Phoned up my friendly local MOT garage this morning to book it in for some time this week. "Bring it straight round" they replied.:) They did the other two for Oblertone last week as well. Collected it at lunchtime with pass certificate.:)

I now have these three in my garage in addition to the other three that Proff brought up plus two Honda Monkey bikes of his. They are taking over my workshop. Every time I turn around, I trip over another C90.:)

The three bikes for The Gambia are all now 100% ready and good to go.

Pics to follow.

Benefit Concert

Wow got home at 1.30 this morning after going up to Bacup to attend the benefit concert with TerryParkin's band the Meercats. What a great day ! Well worth the long drive.

Congratulations to all who helped with the organisation. I don't have a final total yet but well over £300 was raised via a masive raffle (over 1000 tickets sold !) ande various spontanious donations.:beerjug:

Looks like we may also have almost a full team of riders ready for next year just from the Weir Hotel regulars !!!! That's not to say that all GSER's will of course also be very welcome...could be a biggy

If I hadn't left my camera kit behind in the bar I'd post a couple of pictures:augie

Never mind Scoots in the Sahara, here's Scoots in Crapauds workshop:

In adition to the three C90s to be collected (the three with added Callum's Road stickers:) ) there are three crates of equipment that Oblertone has brought. I think it is catering gear etc. Going to need a damn big top box to get all that gear on a C90.:)
