So the 2018 Urban I've ordered has Scorpion Rally STRs fitted.

I'm used to road-focussed tyres and so am a little apprehensive about them. Before I bought my R nineT Scrambler a few years back, I test rode one with the OEM 'knobblies' and didn't get on with them - that sudden 'drop' you feel as you're cornering got me every time!

I'm already thinking I'll need to spend on a new set of road tyres for the new bike, BUT I've read that the STRs are actually pretty good on-road... some saying they're as good or even better than road tyres.

Can anyone shed any light on their experience with them?

Obviously I'll try them out, but I'm just figuring out my budget for all the other things I want to buy for the bike and could do without another £250-300 on tyres ;)

Have been using them on my 2010 GSA & am very happy with them on dry & wet roads.
Get roughly 6000 miles out of the rear & 12,000 miles out of the front.

got them on my Norden, very happy with grip wet and dry, they are not wearing well though, on nearly 5k and they are shot

Really happy with them on my Tuareg 660 grip wise wet or dry, 2000 miles on them so can't really judge much in the way of wear rate.

I have them on my Urban GS. Will replace with the same when they're dead. Look the part but ride pretty much like road tyres :thumby:
I had them on mine and was pretty impressed wet and dry. ( After, I added the 10 psi required to get the front to the correct pressure ). Spend your cash on rear suspension if you like to be comfortable.

Had them on a 12GSA & found them very good even on a wet & muddy weekend in Wales

STRSs are utterly brilliant.
Has them on many bikes including ADV790R,1290R, ATAS.
I probably prefer their on road handling to Conti TA3s.
