Getting close to that time of year again, if any of you are interested in the sport of motorcycle trials then think about a long weekend away or even all week.

The Scottish Six Days Trial will run from Monday 1st May 2006 till Saturday 6th May 2006, in Fort William. There is a Pre '65 event on the Friday and Saturday prior to this based around Kinlochleven.

A good opurtunity to get the GS out into the Highlands of Scotland, some of the best biking roads, and the scenery is fantastic, if you don't beleive me ask GC.
Remember it is Bank Holiday Monday on the 1st so a Long Weekend is ideal.

For those of you that have never seen trials, definately worth going to one of the premier events in the UK, and laugh at us silly buggers throwing bikes up sometimes the impossible.

This will be my 23rd year competing (see my last year post!!), and having competed on 2 stroke power all those years, I have now got a Montesa(Honda engine) 4 stroke, so looking forward to it.

I ukgser member did say hello to me last year, but I had just had a big off in a fairly easy section, as I carry a 4" metal plate and 8 screws in my left collar bone, I actually thought it had snapped, so apologies for not speaking to you too much.

So if any of you are up there, please give me a shout, it is great to have a bit of support

Cheers

I need all the good luck, it's getting harder as I get older

Cheers

Hope to see you there will give you a shout of support
I won't compete or beg a shot of your bike after having a shot of my mates montesa and cracking two ribbs and bruising a lung fortnight ago I'm still in agony
All the best

Look forward to it, my brother is also riding, also on a Montesa, and has also recently aquired a 1150GS adventure same as mine...................not that he copies me, but touring is a little bit better than on a Honda CBR 600 :D

Lampkin....that's the name I was thinking of.... :thumb My surname is similar to Hailwood - I'm a Haywood - boy do I wish I could ride like he did !! :bow Still get asked sometime (in jest) if I'm related. So as long as you ride like you think you have some Lampkin in you I'm sure you'll do fine :D

Got my number today 21, early start on the Monday, but then the first 45 go to the back and so on.

Any more takers for the highlands of Scotland the first week in May, if not only to ride the GS, you can laugh at No. 21 !!!

Hope to see a few of you there, give us a shout

I usually go up to see a bit of the trial ... the friday route is a good day to follow round.
My Dad was secretary of the SSDT for a few years and I did a bit of route marking about 10 years ago ... good fun but very early starts  Also my cousin's husband has been taking part for over 25 years :thumb

We'll Give You a Cheer Scooby!!

Often go up for one day out of the week, depending on shifts, but this year the wife and I are off for the week so might fit in a day at the SSDT as part of a few days up the west coast?, so hopefully we'll see you one of the days?? :clap :clap

Cheers....................Grizzly

Hi Scooby, I’ve not had word from Rhoda about the Sherco team as yet, no change there then. ;)

Grizzly give us a shout if you see me or swap bikes....

Guess who e-mailed and phoned this morning ! :D
That’s really early for Rhoda, last year it was April 26th. She likes her pound of flesh though. This will be my 4th year catering for the Sherco team, have to say I enjoy it really.

How's the final preparations coming along Scooby ? Do you train harder or back of a wee bit.
Cheers

Sorry missed your post G.C. busy training :thumb had full 2 days over Easter ready for the trip up North. Out on the BMW for the other 2 days.

If I'm not ready now it's a bit late with so little time left, looking forward to riding a 4 stroke for the first time up there.

Routes are out and plenty to see for any Gser members on Bank Holiday Monday, if they are up there for the weekend, mainly round Kinlochleven.

Hope to catch you this year G.C. and any other ''Tossers'', give me a shout No. 21 :beerjug:

I had a chat with Scooby and his family this evening, nice folk. :thumb
5 Days in, and still a smile on their face. That’s what its all about.
The 4 stroke’s going well, wasn’t like that in my day, don’t ya just love the smell of two stoke !
Scooby was telling me about a section he arrived at today only to find, on the entry, big rocky, trials bike territory only, a K series ½ way down trying to turn, blocking his entry to the section. (These are all timed sections BTW.)
Anyway, good to meet you after all this time Scooby. All the best for today’s test, I’m sure you shall be fine. Call in to say “Hi” when you are on the GS.

Good to meet you Gordon (this GS Tosser does a decent meal in his pub), good to see you guy's catch me with my feet up. Another great week and another finish.

The organising club have a very difficult job keeping non competing bikes off the off road part of the course, land owners do not appretiate this and they are not insured....the incident with the 'K' series BMW happened on Friday, which was a short track down to a couple of sections that we had to ride. Why he didn't park his bike and walk I don't know, the track was strewn with fairly good sized rocks a good challenge for a GS, but not too clever for any road bike on road tyres. He obviously decided after about 100 metres that it was too difficult and tried to turn around, when we arrived he had managed to get it sideways blocking the track and stuck completely. That'll teach him to not go down there again or to buy a proper BMW, or do we want a ''Tosser'' like that to be assossiated with us..................maybe he is reading this, if so stay off the course for the sake of the event

Thanks once again guys, I have booked my accommodation for next year, and we will suffer another meal at the ''Lochy''. Probably my last year doing this event, need to spend more time touring on the GS

Cheers

Mark
