Has anyone had a Scottoiler fitted to a 2001 bike. The technician at BMW says it isn't possible without about 3 hours labour, although I've seen one on a newer model. If you've got one on please let me know if it was a difficult job or not.Thanks.

The best people to speak to about installation are Scottoiler themselves. Give them a phone call as a first resort. They are very helpful. Their website might be worth checking out as well.

As a guide, it took me about 1.5 hours to fit the scottoiler to my Triumph Sprint ST. What bike do you want to fit it to Sue?

Scottoil

Hi Sue,

I used to have a F650 funduro (the predesessor to your GS) and I had a scottoiler fitted, they are excellent. :)

It does take a while to fit a scotoiler but only 1-1.5 hours if you don't know where to fit the vacum hose until you take the tank off. All the rest is fairly easy.

As your bike is fuel injected (and mine wasn't) I dont know where to fit the vacum hose, but I know it can be done as I have seen them fitted to the F650 GS.

It will not be difficult to fit, If you are mechanicaly minded you could fit it yourself, or get a local bike garage to fit the vacum hose, the rest is easy, all you need is cable ties.

Dont fit the Metering resevoir near the exhaust as it will melt, as i found out:doh

If you ring Scottoiler they will find out where to fit the vacum hose to your bike, I have called them in the past, they are pretty good.

In the mean time oil your chain with a brush and ride it:thumb

Regards

Andy :)

Thanks Bob and Andy ( I ride a 650 GS, Bob) I will definitely give Scottoiler a ring on Monday. I think fitting the vacuum hose was the main problem.Sue

Scotoiler

If anyone is interested I have a Scotoiler for sale.

It is the touring model (reservoir sits behind the numberplate) and I only had it fitted to my Jota for a month or so before I decided to sell the bike so off it came again.
It comes complete with ALL the little bits & pieces and two bottles of Scotoil (they only normally come with one).

Bearing in mind it is practically brand-new and there are two bottles of oil I don't think £70 (inc p&p) is too much to ask (it is the touring model remember and they retail for about £90).
Regards
Alan

I have fitted a chain oiler to my other halfs 650GS, it's called a 'lubetronic', and uses the bikes 12v supply rather than having to drill into the intake stub for vacuum take off as the scottoiler does. Having used both scottoilers and the electric lubetronic, they both work well, but on the BMW, i found the lubetronic the less complicated to fit. Have a look at the MOTRAX web site.

I fitted a scottoiler to my 1150 GS. Makes a hell of a mess on the shaft drive housing. Can't see the point of it really.

Sue

To do a nice job, it's at least 3 hours work! I'll post some pictures later.

Greg

PS If you are going to use the High Capacity Reservoir, you should also use the Touratech number-plate stiffener (thanks Jon!)
