First blood on my 2013 Triple Black .....

And how did I do that?

I made light contact with my hedge backing the beast out of my drive FFS !!!!!!

I think the only cool answer is bash the living hell out of them and either make good use of stickers / reflective tape or vinyl wrap them in black.

Anyway first rides of the year on my GSA and my R100R (both successfully out of hibernation now :-). What an amazing bike the GSA is !

I thought all the 2013's had a reversing camera fitted

Are you saying FFS..... I should not concern myself with damaging panniers on a new bike?

Or

FFS I can't believe a hedge could make a deep gouge in metal panniers that I have a cat in hell's chance of polishing out?

I do accept that bikes are for using but the ally panniers do seem to be very fragile cosmetically

Worried about hedge scratches - leave the panniers on the shelf in the garage

Empty panniers for a run out, make no sense:blast

I'm going on the Vines French Follie weekend in May (Brittany Ferries) and the Garmisch tour in July so I expect they'll be looking even more used in a few months.

Re taking them off, this time I am without the metal top box, so I can't.

WTF are you carrying man, sundry items could go in a small tailpack or Tesco bag bungee'd to the rear seat

Well £1,500 worth of camera equipment and £700 phone just for starters, plus when I park I can stash my crash helmet in them.

I actually never take the panniers off either bike and yes, they are a pain filtering.

They also help protect the rear of the bike if it goes over (one day it will).

What a joyous place this Forum is - I now need permission to ride with panniers on?

A body shop will peen out any groove. Scratches go with the territory Elbow grease or live with

Amongst the old guard there is a view that you only put your panniers on as required.... and do not ride around tooled up for adventure.... hence the TESCO jibe.... also, ref protecting the bike.... i'd sooner replace a £40 (?/) indicator then a £400 pannier?? .... and do you really carry £1500 camera gear around all the time? i suspect not... and the phone.... well mine is in my pocket, in a freezer bag to stop water ingress....

And one last thing? do you have a small head? as i cannot see how a helmet would ever fit in my GSA panniers???

I don't carry it all the time but my panniers are rarely empty.

Both of my crash helmets (which are a Nolan open face and a Nolan Air) fit in even when inside a BMW padded helmet bag.
