Ok here goes read most of the various threads. Still none the wiser. so im going to ask a daft question.
R1200GS Im 5'10" trying to fathom out which screen to change to from the original one. Any surveys done. Live in Jersey. So no trial runs available ??

The general consensus seems to be: "too many variables to reach any useful conclusions"

Everyone has different leg lengths arm reach, torso height, helmet reactiveness to buffeting, and most importantly tolerance to buffeting...

I'm still looking... I've found that often about a month after someone reports TOTAL SUCCESS at solving the problem for them... they are looking for another solution... (except the airflow guys.... but they've pretty much spent as much as possible on the problem and have no place else to go really...

Read the windscreen post... make a decision and have a go... I run a Givi in Winter (no winglets yet) and a chopped OEM in summer...

Al...

The bike, 'cause after you've added all the other bits, then the price difference isn't that great. That's what I keep on saying to myself :o

Screens, Screens, Screens . . . .

We're riding bikes FFS. If you want windproof and quiet, buy a Mercedes :)

First day I rode my standard bike home from dealer, I stopped twice to try screen at lowest position (much more noise), then middle position (still noisier), and ended up back at 1 notch off highest setting (pretty damn quiet). Again, I'm riding a bike and want to hear the outside world).

OK, I'm average height, but it all seems OK for me.

1. I can see over screen OK
2. wind blast is almost nil (after a naked bike it's bliss)
3. Noise is acceptable (Arai helmet, no earplugs yet)

I guess we all have to go down our own Trial + Error route. Can get expensive though, with no guarantee of success as we're alll different shapes (as stated above) and we all have different success criteria. My next accessories will be something other than screen bits. Unless I can find a black one:mmmm

Hi John,
Have had both the GS1200 and GS 1200 Adv both standard screens are crap, Have been using Nipper Normans tall screen for a couple of year now, its tall enough to push the airflow over your helmet and does not bend at high speeds like some. The screen is a pain to fit to the Adv but well worth it.
