I brought this to my dealers attention about 6 months ago and he told me it wasn't a warranty issue. Now that my warranty is up for renewal,, an extra years cover for £333, im wondering if he,ll swallow the cost of a new screen just to get my hard earned cash. Ile ring cannons of Braintree in the morning. How can the dealers get away with not following suit?

Vines replaced my GS screen twice with no quibble whatsoever. I'm mystified why some dealers would and some wouldn't though - unless the screen looks like it has been hit or cracked deliberately it's clear these are stress cracks caused by poor design.
Did any of you guys who have had the cracking/replaced screens have any deflectors fitted which may have added to the problem?
I ask because I am about to fit a Wunderlich deflector to my 14 GSA, the screen of which is okay just now, 6,500 miles down the track.

I figured that, but they must get something out of it. I Phoned them this morning and they are collecting bike for more pics and further inspection and heated grip update.
Had my 2013 screen replaced twice - BMW must have done a design change because this 3rd screen has been fine.
When mine was replaced, I was told that there had been a production fault, but BM did not know which bikes had been fitted with faulty screens. The replacement one also had different fitting tolerances.

My GS LC already has two broken screens. In 6500 km. Manufactured in December 2013 and registered in March 2014. Model 2014. Sorry for my English. I am Spanish.

Bikes in for it 6K service. After reading this thread I took a look at my screen to find fractures around the left top mounting hole. Also on turning on the ignition, the usual start up noises were rather loud from low down.
Cotswold BMW said I needed a new Exhaust valve and would sort it out, but the screen was cracked due to over tightening of the mounting bolt.
I have informed them of this thread, and there being a issue with earlier screens............. They claimed to have no knowledge of any such issue, but are going to contact BMW to see what they say.
Fingers crossed eh.................... Tomorrow will tell.

There are other dealers if you get no joy. Don't reward dealers for apathy. With mine they changed the mounting too, so if you don't have the improved mount they should give you the benefit of any doubt. If you have the improved mount it might not be as straightforward.

Didn't realise there was a improved mount. My bike is a March 2014 model............. Would this have the upgrade do you know ?
Mine is June 14. Didn't have the improved mount, but does now.

2013 lc. New screen and mount fitted last week due to cracks around the bottom mounts.

Does anyone know if the new screens are different to the old screens? Are they just changing the screen too because of the cracks, or is the screen physically different due to the new mounting system?
Cotswold changed my screen with no hassles approximately two months ago for the same problem. It's a March 2014 GSA TE with about 7000 miles on the clock at the time. Not acceptable to state that they are unaware of the problem. The modified screen flexes much less than the original. Result!

On removing the screen !!!!!!! yeah you guessed it ! star cracks ,
Others of this parish gave me the heads up on the warranty.
I took it into Oceans , and Bill a very helpful bloke no quibbles told me it was a warranty issue and yes they had also changed the design of the brackets .
so getting the brackets changed and a new screen under warranty,
No problems with replacements .
