Screens

Fitted a Cee Baileys this morning. 4" wider than stock and 5" taller. I'm 6ft 2" and it looks about perfect for high speed slashing rain motorway type stuff.

The front drill holes we're marginally out, but I pushed it into place by hand rather than re-drilled. Despite this, it's visibly a quality piece of kit - as it should be for the price.

The quality of the perspex is simply the best I've seen in terms of thickness and clarity.

I suspect it will work very well, but as I have a cold I'm reluctant to ride it just yet - will let you know how I get on when I do!

At the bike show yesterday the Bagster people told me they are bringing one out (made by the same people as the OE screen apparently). They didn't have it on show because they didn't take delivery in time but it might be worth checking out.
The standard screen without Tobinators have been ok for me so far but I've only done 700 miles so watch this space.

Cap'n, I fitted my Cee Baileys last weekend - a 4" high & 3" wide. It is a high quality screen but, like yours, mine is a little bit out of synch fit wise. I'm still tinkering with the Tobinators to get the best noise/ turbulence/ quiet air mix but there is no doubt that it is betetr than the stock screen - bl**dy ought to be too, at the price.

Glad to hear it Pete; my snotty nose is stopping play at the moment, mind you it was only 4 degrees when I got up this morning, so maybe I can wait until the weekend before dragging it out for a test run.

Enlarging the screen is never going to make a bike aesthetically pleasing, but it doesn't look too bad; and I really bought it for longer journeys and winter really - I mean, who really gives a monkeys whether it looks good or bad on a dark wet Wednesday evening; so long as you're still having fun and the screen is keeping the worst of the cold, rain and wind off you? :D

Characterful visually-challenged bikes have always ruled my world, but I've always smiled more riding them than my friends on their pretty-plastic-planks :D

Too right Cap'n.
Let's face it, if we were all concerned with just looks the GS would not be our first choice of steed.
I've got down to 2 choices - screen at almost hoizontal, pointing at my chest (then the head is in nice clean air but the chest takes the strain of 100mph+ windblast) or at just under about 45degrees where the turbulent air just about flutters around the top third of my lid, which still gives buffeting but nowhere near as bad as with stock screen.
Lots of combinations to go, but if I end up with it being flat I'll be having to buy a dremmel to make space for the bars/ mirrors on fuller lock.
Good fun though.

I've now ridden with my cut-down screen for a good while, I still haven't found "the perfect" position. But I'm eagerly experimenting. :)

I've been meaning to post the story and pics here, but I don't have a proper pic of the bike (it's dark when I get home! :() and as I've not found a really good position for the screen, I don't have much to report...

But soon! :D

As mentioned earlier in this thread, I got my SECDEM screen last week. Had it out for the first time today:D

Less noise, less buffeting, great investment, £104.00 direct from France.

:D :D :D :D

Cee Bailieys screen

Hello from Nicosia. Eureka, i have solved all of the screen problems. I bought the Cee Bailieys 5" taller 4" wider and i have encountered vibrations on high speeds. I have solved the problem by adding a D330 KIT (Fissaggio Parabrezza 04205) which is a kit with two supporting brackets and fealeders. The only problem was the the Cee Bailieys screen did not have the necessary holes therefore i had to dril two round ones and two square ones in the bottom. You can view the bracket at www.givi.it choose my motorcycle the BMW then R1200GS and you will see the brackets. Have fun..
