ok guys, i was going to buy a sd card for my zumo 660( if the thing ever gets delivered). my question is, does anyone know what the biggest card is that can be used in the 660. from what i can see everything is ok upto 4gb but 8 gb then becomes 8GB SD SDHC and i dont know if the SDHC is compatible. thanks for any help in advance

I've read on the Zumo Forum that an 8GB SDHC card works OK, but it is a lot slower accessing data because of its size... it takes a longer time to read the contents, but that might be just at boot-up time :nenau
I've got two 4GB SD cards for mine... just make sure you get the fastest speed ones, which are marked "6"
As an aside, I think a 4GB SD card is actually an SDHC card... well at least mine are :JB

It takes MICRO SD cards, not normal size.

IMHO, unless you have a million hours of music, I'd probably suggest a 4Gb card (or 2) is adequate.

Just to try and bring this one to closure...

...the 660 takes only Micro SD cards, and has been tested up to 4Gb.

Garmin say that larger capacites MAY work, but they don't support/warrant/ recommend them.

bollocks, just bought a 16Gb as it was just a few quid more.

and it's not being recognised...

I use an 8GB Micro SDHC card. Works fine. Finds stuff faster tha I can push the buttons.
Get one that comes with USB adaptor - makes it easy to load tracks on from your pc.
Make sure the Author (Artist) and Title fields are populated in explorer if you want the Zumo to index stuff.

just tried to update the maps and it says that there is not enough space on unit - with a 16Gb sd card :(

So I can only guess that it's not finding it.

So what to do now??

I have the same for Europe, had to select just Western Europe. I don't think it’s anything to do with the card, it appears to me that it wont split the European map across the main memory and the card.

I have a couple of cards with all the N America maps on. One is 4GB and one 16GB (both work fine) but I couldn't find a way to spread the new European maps onto either of them.

Question is how do I get East Europe when I need to now?

Theres plenty of information on this problem if you search it out on this forum, the solution to fit all the most recent map data on the device is to delete all the shite you dont need like the languages and different voices etc, theres a link on here somewhere to a garmin page that lists all the stuff that its safe to delete and how to do it.:beerjug:

I've already done that once but the latest map update appears to have grown too far. Annoying and illogical that I can't put some onto the SD card as I have with N America. I bet I could if I bought the individual country maps!

I'm using a 16GB card to store MP3 files - works most of the time. There does appear to be an issue with the 660 sometimes not reading the cards but this does not seem to be linked to the storage capacity. There's quite a few threads on this over on the Zumoforums. I have been messing with this issue for the last few days and it seems that the only way to get reliable reads of the SD card is to give the Zumo a hard reset if you make any changes to the card.
