Hi all

I'm looking to buy a new GSA, but my only concern is my hieght, I am 5,8 and inside leg of 30".
Is there anybody here who has a GSA 1200 of simalar leg to me, and how do you find the seat hieght. I have been told that there are aftermarket seat that are lower, but hoe do these compare to the standard seat on its lowest setting.

The BMW low seat is not only lower than the stock seat on the lowest setting but is narrower at the front so makes getting your foot/feet down easier :thumb

Paul (5ft 6ins 29 inch inside leg)

hi am the same height as yourself and have just invested in the bmw low seat it is expensive but makes a hugh difference, i can put borh feet flat on ground with no problem at all.the LOW seat is leaves you nearly 2" closer to ground

Well i'm only 5.4 and i have a gs with a low seat, and i have no hassle with it............janie xxxx

Frank,

is that seat you have on a standard 1200 or a 1200 adventure.
Janie, is yours a GSA or standard?

Rich

ah - hello chaps - this is my first post - and actually something i can contribute to.....
i have a bmw 'low seat' 5'9.1/2'' 29.1/2 one leg - and inch shorter on the other. low seat is fine - tried the touratech low low seat last week ... didnt seem to make any difference , so sent back.

if any idea for a 'lower one' that works would appreciate a nod.as can always appreciate the extra inch or so (albeit less than)

ta

ps why do possts keep repeating themselves as being updated when i have already read them a couple of days ago . ?

seat height

I've just ordered a new GSA after 9 months and 12,000 faultless miles on a 1200 GS. What swung it for me was taking the GSA for a test ride with my Low seat fitted from my GS. The BMW low seat makes a big difference and the GSA felt no higher tham my GS with the low seat on. Luckily I bought the low seat seperatley (about GBP 100) from my dealer so will just swap it on to the GSA when I get it.

Just measured up.

5' 10.5"

31" inside leg

With a standard 1200 GSA seat I can touch the floor with my toes.

I tried a low seat and I can get my feet flat on the floor.

I currently have a standard Sarget seat (love this saddle for long rides) front and back, which has two settings. I leave it on the high setting and can get the balls of both feet on the floor. Being an ex-enduro bike rider I seldom put both feet down except when manovering the bike parking etc. I tend to slide slightly over to one side of the saddle and put one foot flat on the deck.

O and when her in doors is on the back I can get both knees to touch the floor ;)

Regards
T

PS You could fit aftermarket suspension and drop the height by about 30mm or so buts bet it would be £800 or so.

I have tried the lower seat & it works. Also advised that you can swop the standard rear & front suspension units to gain abit more.

shorty

I'm 5' 7" with a 28" inside leg (on a good day)......... I have the low seat but use technoflex suspension. The rear shock on this can be adjusted up and down(by about 40mm) with just an adjustable nut at the bottom, mine is set about 5mm lower than standard, this means I can get the balls of my feet down solo, and 2 up and loaded nearly flat on the floor.
As mine is an '04 bike this does mean it is extremely difficult to get it on the centre stand without a little help:D
I am just about to try an ADV and am failry sure that with the low seat and the technoflex set up should be fine.:thumb2

this paddock boots have a thick sole...........makes all difference for me on the gs.............even i can reach the floor no hassle...waterproof as well
