Fella`s, I`m tending to ask first before I `fly off the handle` and spend hours designing/commercialising something which I think is brill but others don`t........... (thankfully it does not happen often, but enough).

So, my problem is that I`m a short arse on a standard GSA LC - 5` 9" meaning that the more `foot` I can gt on the floor the safer I feel. Yes I appreciate there are faaaaaar better riders out there who are shorter and more proficient than I will ever be :bow but, for me, its a problem. So, to lower the seat by about 10mm`s I`ve designed 3 cams which fit onto each side of the peg (once the rubbers are removed). Not totally my idea if I am honest as one of the lads suggested simply taking the rubber bungs out - and it worked thank you :bow but the seat seemed to `rattle about` a bit. The original bungs must have a vibration reducing effect but TBH it hardly seems noticeable with them replaced with aluminium cams. And, for me, it actually works, I can get a bit more foot on the ground!

So, I`ve designed the cams below - does anyone care to express an opinion along the lines of a) don`t give up your day job Mark but if it works for you fine and use the saved time to ride it or b) good idea Mark, you might not be the only bugger on this planet who could use something like that :bounce1

Actually, they are dead easy to make and if anyone wants to make them then PM me and I will talk you through it but basically all you need is a bit of solid bar with an off center hole through it cut to length - simples!

Fanks guys :clap

Are those grooves there to take some rubber O rings ?

How much ?

You're about the same height as me, Mark but you must have longer legs. A new Adventure is too tall for me to even contemplate riding. I'd be interested in a pair of cams for my standard GS. One -up + luggage makes it just a wee bit too high.

I'd definitely be interested if the price was right Mark. I'm shorter than you and have a 28" inside leg.

Obvious question, Mark, is there enough room to feasibly lower the seat any more............... i.e. not crushing any looms etc....

Well I'm a giant.. would they work in the opposite direction?

Count me in, struggled the other day with two up setting to get feet down properly so anything that helps is a bonus

I think a good idea, I'm not needing them at the moment but I already considered (when) I get a GSA it's either lower seat or change seat for a standard GS LC seat which would kinda spoil the look a little..

perhaps an easier way to do this is to buy the pair of rubber grommets from BMW and trim them down.

You describe them as CAMS which implies that they are variable adjustment.

However from the pics they look like off centre drilled roundals

Could you clarify

What would be good is several holes drilled around the perimeter at different distances from the centre hence giving a number of different height choices

Then again if you just twist the one that he,s made because its off centre if its tight enough, you will get a height adjustment also.

I might make you a set to see what you think - I am not sure if I will be selling them so if you just kindly cover the postage (£5?) I will make and send you a set to try eh fella? If they work and help then brill, perhaps you could post something to help me?

good question and seemingly yes, under the seat is the ECU which seems robust and without the cams fitted at all the seat still sits `comfortably` and without fouling anything (or at least it does to me)
